Overall Texas has the slimmest of margins but Nolan Ryan could be the difference in the game.

The Angels would get the only hit in the first three innings.

After three: California 0 Texas 0.

An error would do significant damage in the fourth as the Angels would score two unearned runs.

The Rangers added on the errors in the sixth inning and the Angels added on the runs. Seven of them to be exact.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Rangers stranded the bases loaded.

After six: California 9 Texas 0.

At one point in the sixth and seventh innings, Nolan Ryan struck out four straight batters.

The shutout bid ended in the eighth when Kubiak scored on a wild pitch.

In the ninth, Ryan struck out Frank Howard to record his tenth K of the game. Howard struck out in all four of his plate appearances.

Final score: California 9 Texas 1.
