Texas can get back to .500 with a win but the matchups again heavily favor Boston.

Both pitchers work themselves out of early trouble in the first inning and the Rangers strand a runner at third in the second.

Boston gets on the board in the top of the third. Texas gets the first two on in the bottom of the third but can't bring them home.

After three: Boston 1 Texas 0.

Both teams strand a pair in the fourth.

Jeff Burroughs ties the game with an RBI single in the fifth.

In the bottom of the sixth with a man on first, Ted Kubiak hit his first home run of the season.

After six: Texas 3 Boston 1.

Broberg retired Boston in order in the seventh and eighth innings.

In the top of the ninth, singles by Fisk and Yastrzemski gave Boston runners at the corners and nobody out. Broberg got Petrocelli to ground into a double play, allowing one run in exchange for two outs. Pinch hitter Rick Miller walked to put the tying run back on base but Broberg got Aparicio to fly out to right to end the game.

Final score: Texas 3 Boston 2.
