I don't know what's happening this season, but the Hoboken Zephyrs have forgotten how they usually pitch and play defense. However, that seems to have been channeled into an increased offensive mindset, as they lead their division at 22-14. Garry Maddox is hitting a completely unsustainable .430 right now (BABIP of .473). Wonder how long he'll keep the average above .400...

I had never noticed this. I was under the impression that you got them for every one. But now I will look closer at this if it happens again.
Thankfully box scores almost always tend to mention them happening.

And the Golden Lions in their first season in Silver are holding their own. At the close of simulations early this morning they are leading their division.
Today they have had a poor May but are at least showing they can hang in Silver and are only a 1.5 games out of first on may 13th.

My great offense is still great and is 1st overall in runs scored. And pitching and defense has us at 5th in our conference in runs allowed.
A positive sign is that our BABIP allowed is .306 which I don't think is sustainable against us for long. I think it will settle more towards .270 which is still pretty high. So I think the dice rolls have been against us so far.
I can see us making a playoff run in our first Silver season which is exciting.

The Hoggs are 24-19 midway through May. Despite top-half hitting and pitching they are only 7-9 for the month. Dennis Martinez gave up an uncharacteristic 3 homers in his last start. He's already been sent into the bleachers more this season than he did all of last season...

Not a great day all around for the Hoggs. 13-15, for an overall record of 29-25. 6 1/2 games back in the division and a half-game out of the wildcard. Pythag says we should be 32-22 but that might just be a result of our solitary bright spot for the day, a 21-5 win over the Bangor Lumberjacks.

We got no-hit for the first time in our history, a Kevin McReynolds walk the sole thing between us and the ignominy of a perfect game.

We have the best bullpen in the conference at the moment, the 4th-best starting pitching, and the 3rd-least runs scored against us, along with the 2nd-best BA and 5th-most runs. Just can't seem to turn that into wins. Maybe tomorrow things will improve!

1990 PP, most of those thanks to the 20-run game.

My team got one hit all game(in the eight and it was a triple) and I ended up winning 1-0. My team looks good on paper compared to the rest of the league, but is struggling mightily. Luckily I am in the worst division in the league so I still got a good shot at making the playoffs!

Edit-No Idea why its not letting me post the pic to forums, but here is the link to the boxscore

Columbus Clippers in their 2nd year in Perfect, P400. 72 wins in year 1. 10-10 so far in season 2. Could upgrade 1 starting pitcher during the offseason. Probably will need a few more upgrades to compete, need more pitching help.
My Perfect team is 11th in runs and 10th in runs allowed......they are also 10 games over 500. This can't last.

The Hoboken Zephyrs start the day at 37-17, good for a 7 game division lead in G330. Finally have some luck going their way this year. Pitching has been steadily improving after their terrible start and the hitting has held up. Garry Maddox sitting atop the BA and WAR leader boards.

The Port Washington Pack Rats start at 34-21and have a 3.5 game division lead in G347. They've also been fairly lucky Pythag-wise, but the pitching has substantially improved from last season. Max Muncy leading the league in HRs.

Hey, the Critters have squeaked over .500 (33-31) and into a 5-team pile for the second wild card …!

Offense is still horse poo, though…

The Nation of John Cena has finally started playing up there potential. After starting the season 26-31, we have pulled off ten straight wins and now lead the division with a 36-31 record.

The Sidewinders are a Torrid 46-25 in the OOTPLee & Friends Bronze .353 league. While the bats aren't necessarily lighting it up, solid defense up the middle has made the pitching staff look like all-stars.

Dock Ellis and Dennis Martinez are locked in right now, while Dave Dravecky and Eduardo Rodriguez aren't looking to shabby either. Sadly, Vic Raschi is suffering from shellshock and have been sent to the bottom half of the rotation to recuperate. No real complaints in the bullpen besides wondering why they won't play Johnny Venters. Hoyt Wilhelm has been monopolizing long relief opportunities, I suppose, but I suppose I can't complain with the best Bullpen in the league thus far.

On the other side of the ball, I'm really pleased with my 4 man outfield, which has been outstanding. Huge bounceback season for Lonnie Smith, as his platoon with Pete Rose has really benefited him. Sadly, with him starting the game on the bench vs. Righties my SB count has nosedived to league average. I was a little concerned it might be too much workload for 4 guys, but so far those fears have not been borne out.

Outside of that platoon and the continued success of absolute legend George Vukovich against RHP, it's been a great season for Jose Vidro, while Chipper and Miggy aren't too shabby either. Rizzuto has been rather meh and Bud Harrelson is clinging to roster in a platoon with Snuffy and Mark because ??? (I mean, it's not a terrible platoon, and my reserve roster doesn't really have anyone in the 26th spot on offense). Catchers are, as always, awful, and might be swapped out at the end of the month.

The only real problem is that the best team in the league is in my division, so hopefully the stars on the team can push a little harder and we can catch them.

The Hoggs' frustrating season continues. 39-34, 5 games below Pythag, with the 3rd-best offense and 2nd-best defense but only capable of playing .500 ball for the last month and a half...

Am considering pulling the plug on the season and training some guys up at new positions (Aparicio at 2B, 3B, McReynolds at LF, RF, etc).

13-14 for the month, to see us at 43-39. Tied for the second wildcard and 5 games below Pythag. The frustrating thing is that we have a run differential of +64, and have conceded the least runs in the conference (best starter's ERA and best bullpen ERA) while scoring the 4th-most. Yet we can't string together any wins. Feels to me like we've wasted our opportunity to be competitive as I expect some regression to the mean in the second half.

Maybe I'll see what things look like midway through tomorrow before tearing the house down...

Coons played .400-ish in April, .500-ish in May, and finally .666 in June, rallying to first place after a clever manager lit their tails on fire. Man, can they run if they have motivation …!

The offense finally woke up and went on a tear from about the second week of June. Pujols won a Player of the Week, Cespedes even won Player of the Month, batting .372 with 5 homers. For the year, however, Ces is batting .266 with 11 homers, so you can do the math there…… The entire team was so dead from the waist up, even my Mike Trout was batting .222 (!!) through the end of May. Now up to .260 at least, with an .869 OPS.

Periodically I also have to profess my boundless love for my Craig Swan (71) card. 10-4 with a 2.93 ERA! Okay, it's just a smelly Gold league… … but he's my #5 guy since basically the start of everything - except when we were in Perfect, because I was not going to do that to the poor guy.

I am in a Perfect division with a team that has 3 perfect position players and 6 other Diamond players in their every day lineup......and all of his pitchers are all rated under 45. He has a Perfect pitcher and 5 Diamond pitchers on his bench.

So he's playing a GREAT lineup, but all 2018 crappy pitchers.

In Perfect? How do you like your meatballs? That sounds like no effort to win or feeding league buddies.
