My Gold level team had the most wins last season in Gold but were eliminated by the Wild card. Now I am in Gold again with high expectations.

Not sure what to expect in Perfect for the Doubledays? Just trying to make the playoffs.

BTW still having rotten luck with my perfect card draws. To go along with the fact that my P2P team has drawn 8 perfect cards and 4 of them were Noah Syndergaard, I finally drew my first perfect on one of my F2P teams over the weekend.

It was Bryce Harper. Ouch.

Despite being pretty much the worst offense in the conference through the first month and a half (worst BA, 3rd-worst OBP, worst slugging, 4th-least hits, 3rd-least extra-base hits, and least home runs), B'sin'Glou are 21-17 with a +14 run differential. Our rotation remains mediocre but our bullpen is really solid.

A strange season so far.

This week I got off to a horrendous start and I'm in the same division as asainstsfan and his stacked New Orleans Brees team. So I decided to train up Yelich at 1B and get Trout some work at the corners.

However an unexpected 9 game win streak has me in the WC hunt, so I might have to switch gears.

I recently started using Satchel Paige (95 OVR, not Negro Leagues) on my Raccoons team and have been pleasantly surprised by his endurance. His fatigue rating is only 31 and yet in the 5 games he's pitched, his pitch counts have ranged from 82 to 108. He's got excellent ratings, but you need a deep bullpen to handle him so he'd not be good for someone with a bullpen that is often tired out. Fortunately, we almost never have a tired bullpen so he's working out well for us so far.

Love it when your virtual players have the decency to win a bunch of games in a row rather than win 6 lose 1 win 8 etc...

Rebels pull Zack Greinke from a pack... but the 39 movement has me instantly frightened.

Raccoons' quabble for first in their division, but that mix just isn't working… the offense is a pile of shambles. Also pulled a Billy Grakar…. Grubar… Rhubarb… that Dodgers third-base flash-in-a-pan card on Monday and he immediately batted like .187 … (sigh!) … I have to tear down that entire offense, but I don't have the PP for it...

Eh, went from 19-7 in April to 11-15 so far in May. Starting pitching has been good this season but all my starters were lousy in their most recent outing. ERA overall is still solid, Syndergaard is under 3, deGrom is at 3.06, Sale and Verlander in the 3.3-3.4 range, but Gibson, who was second in the Cy Young last year, is at 6.75. In his last 5 starts combined he's lasted just 15 1/3 innings and given up 25 earned runs, and we lost all 5 games. Meanwhile I'm trying Al Rosen at third again for his defense but he hasn't even been very good at that, and Troy Tulowitzki, who was in the top 6 or 7 in MVP voting last season, has an OPS around 200 points lower this season and is the worst hitter on my team. So now we're 31-23, 11 1/2 games back in the division (which I think is already out of our reach, I wouldn't be surprised if Texas won 130 games) and a game back in the wild card.

The Frogs are steadily working their way thru "year 3" in diamond, and have a 3-game lead in a 4-team division with a 31-24 record. This is a very egalitarian league and no team is leading its division by more than 5.5 games. The Frogs went 12-9 in April, 16-13 in May, and 3-2 so far in June. Had a little rough patch in May when the bullpen was totally gassed. Very workmanlike, but this team has more in it I feel.

Went into the season knowing that a rotation of Gerrit Cole/Steve Busby/Dallas Keuchel/Walker Buehler/Lance McCullers Jr was sketchy and that I'd want to add at least one more "good" SP. My prediction did not disappoint because the team has a 4.68 starter's ERA (10th out of 14 teams). So I pulled the trigger on a Hardware Heroes version of King Felix for 7500 PP. McCullers goes back to the bullpen where he can be fantastic in long relief. If I were sitting on a pile of PP (heh), I'd want to replace Buehler (might add Mel Harder back into the mix) and add another late inning RP, but I'm pretty content to ride this team as constructed now. I think it can probably get to perfect level as is.

Thankfully, the offense is compensating for the pitching and leads the conference in runs scored--3rd in AVG, 1st in OBP, 2nd in SBs, 13th in HRs. Haven't really done much to tinker with the lineup, but I did jettison gold Ozzie Smith...again (that card never does anything for me) in favor of re-inserting bronze Luis Aparicio (that card always does irrationally well).

We just had our biggest ever win, thumping the No$ Ballers 28-1 (I'm also a no-dollar baller, if it's any consolation, snake16doctor).

Worth a cool 4810 PP.

Did it without hitting a single homerun as well. Harmon Killebrew drew 6 walks (should there be an achievement for doing that?).

It was the last game of a 4-game series, and the No$ Ballers are only operating a 5-man bullpen with no long relievers. We'd gone extra innings 2 of our previous 3 so they were already pretty tired. We beat up Paxton early and ended up facing 3 positions players on the mound as well as 4 from the pen.

My #5 pitcher, Tom Seaver (97 OVR), just tossed a no-hitter! It's my first PT no-hitter. He's 8-1, but his ERA of 3.72 is the worst of all of my pitchers (SPs and RPs). If only I'd be able to say that after playing part of a season in perfect. I'm looking forward to playing in perfect even though I don't expect my team to do that well.

After having a "poor" May (we went 16-11) where we forgot how to hit, we're back on track with a 12-1 June so we're 50-18 at the moment which is a distant 2nd overall (the best team is 57-13, but in the other conference). For 3 seasons prior to this, I played with a self-imposed "salary cap". In other words, I held back many of my great players to keep from rolling over the competition which made that gold championship feel better since we weren't stacked like the team we beat.

This season in diamond I've only held back 2 of my best pitchers, John Clarkson and Tim Keefe (both 99 OVR), hence my much better record in diamond compared to bronze-gold. What's cool about it is that Tom Seaver wouldn't have been in my rotation had I not done this and so he'd not have had that no-hitter. Since that team with the 57-13 record has Keefe and perfect Seaver, etc., I'll be bringing in Clarkson and Keefe for the WS if I get to face him which should even things out a bit, though he might still have the better team.

Fighting Saints followed up a good May with a good June. Still being closely chased by the very tough Eden Gladiators.

My first few days in Perfect Leagues have been interesting. My team is 41-36, in second place and in the wild card hunt, so I am satisfied with the performance so far. But I am stunned by my team's total inability to hit the top pitchers. There is a level of pitching that I can't penetrate, while my team beats up normal pitching. The elite pitchers are beatable, because other teams are doing it from time to time, but not by the ordinary hitters that I have. I realize now that I will need some upgrades on offense to be a serious contender here.
