Please hurry with Tournys that will even the playing field

Tired of feeling like the Oakland A's, where Im in a league where I cannot complete simply because the other clubs are willing to spend more $.

Tournaments that set a OVR card point total limits, "only bronze", "only silver", "only gold", even "only iron" would even things out and be more fun imo.

Really hope these appear very soon.

I can imagine if you only have one team in a perfect league it might feel like that - but I'm not there, and I see plenty of competition in Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Iron. It's no longer whales beating everyone else on their way up.

That said, I hope they get tournaments going soon too!

I'm not sure if something like an all silver tourney is going to really level the playing field as much as some think. While the overall gap between teams will be less, the whales will likely have a significant amount of cards to choose from much more than those teams that haven't opened as many packs. I guess we will see and I'm excited for them to get here, but I am enjoying the game as it is right now even if I am not going to be winning a title anytime soon.

This ^

What's to stop the whale from buying every silver card? There are people that have opened 1000 packs or more.

There will be a meta for these tourneys, and the whale will quickly have the cookie cutter build to win them if the reward is good enough to justify the effort. It is not hard to develop the "best" roster to win a capped tourney, and the price of the key cards will go up relative to the reward.

The bulk of the player base will be mucking around in the tourneys that award one pack or whatever the lowest reward is. The limit of three at a time will ensure that some tourneys will be available to mortals, but the whales will concentrate on the best rewards.

I think with the restricted tourneys, the margin for error for everyone will be smaller. Something like getting a great season out of your bullpen or your DH might be the difference maker. Luck and getting hot is going to be as big or bigger a determinant than a whale having a few meta cards ... especially when you need to win series to advance and that's very different than buffing your team to 100+ wins in the standings.

Therefore, I see tournaments evening things out quite a bit and I'm also very much looking forward to them! That being said, I'm electing to remain patient because I don't want to see the team launch the tournaments until they're fairly stable.

Personally, I'm not holding my breath for these to be released. I'm thinking that these are proving to be harder to implement than they imagined and we might not see tournaments until August. It's a great idea and should be really fun but they don't seem at all close to actually making it happen.

Every time I fire the game up and see the "Tournaments coming soon!" on the screen, I just have to sigh.

I think thats great. Maybe I can finally get some decent PP for my silvers that today AH for chump change compared to the elite cards.

I still think there is a good chance that tournaments and collection awards have changed the pricing structure found in the AH. Many people felt it would be the answer for the F2P or low run P2P guys, but "if" prices stay high in the AH and the amount of rewards given remain the same, then the pp needed to build the team will be higher in PT20 than it was in PT19.

It feels like though prices have come down, they have not come down as quickly in PT20 as they had in PT19. Some of this can also be due to other reasons such as knowing the average prices paid or the demand for certain players. Regarding the demand for certain players, the valuation of players has also seemed to have changed as people learn of differing types of players to value, for example defense. At this time, it is much more costly to build a defensive oriented team in PT20 than PT19.

As you said, the overall gap between teams will be less. That is all I am asking.

Whales will always be at an advantage. Whales SHOULD always be at an advantage. But my hope is that there will be lower stakes tables in the casino where I can take a seat and still lose - but without immediately lose my entire savings in the first hand. Give me a chance to play with a lower buy-in, even if the other disadvantages I face remain.
