September 17th-September 23rd

September 17th, 2024: We opened the home series against the Nationals with Mike Soroka (8-5, 4.82 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Jay Groome (7-7, 4.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). We scored 4 in the 7th to win the opener 8-3.

Soroka went 6 with 6 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Garrett McDaniels got a hold in 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 3 RBI's. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Seth Beer was 1-for-2 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-3 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and a sac fly. Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-2 with 3 runs scored, a double, and 2 walks. Max Marusak was 1-for-4 with an RBI and his first big league hit in his first career start.

Brewers' SP Bobby Nicholson tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the Reds.

September 18th, 2024: The Minnesota Twins clinched the AL Central today. At 90-57, they will return to the playoffs for the third straight year.

We looked to take the series a day early with Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.42 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) taking on Erling Moreno (5-5, 3.97 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). They evened it up with a 4-3 win off a bases loaded walk by Jorge Moya.

Buehler allowed 3 in 4.1 off 6 hits and 6 strikeouts. Moya allowed an unearned run in the 9th with a hit and 2 walks. Ohtani made the error in the 9th.

Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.

September 19th, 2024: The San Francisco Giants have been eliminated from postseason contention. At 66-81, they trail LA by 15 games. They haven't made the playoffs since 2016.

We looked to win the rubber match with A.J. Puckett (8-6, 4.14 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) taking on Breiling Eusebio (5-5, 4.60 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). We got 4 in the 7th to take the finale 5-1.

Puck tossed a great game, 5.2 innings with 4 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Michael Feliz got the win, 1.1 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers finished the final 2 innings with a strikeout.

Puck was 1-for-2 with a double. Lazaro Armenteros was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Vlad Jr. was 1-for-3 with a sacrafice fly. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a run scored and driven in.

Rockies LF Sean Foote went 5-for-5 in a 5-4 win over the Padres.

Tomorrow is a day off.

September 20th, 2024: I purchased the contract of P/1B J.P. Gates from AA Jacksnoville. The former 2018 2nd Rounder got the call because I didn't want him to file for minor league free agency. Here's what I wrote about him when I drafted him:

"2nd Round, 70th Overall: SP J.P. Gates (3) Said he'd sign for slot too. With no SP in the minors worth much, he's got a lot of promise. His fall back is 1B, but he's got great stuff and control, and is a real draftee."

Well, he's not that guy, now just a 1.5 potential, but he's got four nice pitches and can be a decent longman who can eat a few innings in the pen.

Atlanta C Chi-Seong Pak was 5-for-5 in a 10-8 win loss to the Phillies.

We're 1.5 games out of first, but have a 2.5 game lead over Atlanta and Washington for the 1st Wild Card. The Padres would come to town, and send Chris Rodriguez (10-11, 3.61 ERA), Zach Lovvorn (5-12, 3.77 ERA), and MacKenzie Gore (5-12, 3.77 ERA) to the mound. The defending champs are just 77-73, and probably won't make the playoffs.

September 21st, 2024: We opened the series with the Padres in front of a crowded Marlins Park as every game means so much more with the season winding down. Jordan Montgomery (!0-7, 3.09 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) battled Chris Rodriguez (10-11, 3.61 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) who not only shut us out earlier this year, but in the playoffs last year. The Padres bested us in the opener 6-2.

Montgomery allowed 6 (4 earned) in 5.1 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. The rest of the pen combined for 3.2 innings with a hit and 5 strikeouts.

Scott Kingery was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. Adam Haseley was 1-for-4 with a RBI triple. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

September 22nd, 2024: We looked to get back on track with Jake Florence (12-8, 3.76 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) taking on Zack Lovvorn (9-11, 4.14 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). We scored 5 in the 6th to even the series with an 8-2 win.

Florence went 6 and allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and he struck out 6. Aplha Quivers, Chasen Shreve, and Ernesto Estrella got holds before we took the big leads.

Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs, a hit by pitch, and a homer. Lazarito was 1-for-4 with a 3-run homer in the 8th. Seth Beer was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI.

Noah Syndergaard tossed a no-hitter in a 2-0 win over the Nationals. Washington is now not in position to make the playoffs, and 6 games out of first.

September 23rd, 2024: I activated Ben Heller from the DL, and recalled Josh Weske from AAA after the Baby Cakes won their second consecutive title.

Weske, the former 12th Overall pick, will be set to make his debut. Here's what I wrote about him:

"1st Round, 12th Overall: SP Josh Weske (4.5): The 18-year-old demanded just $1.1 million for a bonus and he easily projects to be a front of the rotation starter. Is stuff is nasty, and his change up is extremely nasty and he can put it where he wants it. He's extremely durable, and the lefty will be one of the best in the league."

He's a star potential lower, so one of the best in the league might be a stretch, but Weske looks like a future #2 for sure. His fastball is overpowering and his cutter has nice movement. He keeps the ball on the ground, and can pitch alot of innings. He's also kept his durability.

White Sox RHP Zack Burdi has announced that after tearning his rotator cuff, his career is over. Injuries have hurt him a lot, and his career line consists of a 5.22 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 393 strikeouts, and 164 walks in 362.1 innings.

We're up to 6th in the Power Rankings.

We looked to take the series with Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.50 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) taking on MacKenzie Gore (5-12, 3.77 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). We lost the slugfest 11-9 and had to use a ton of pitchers.

Buehler went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs and 4 hits with a walk and 7 strikeouts. Micahel Feliz couldn't get an out, and allowed 3 runs and 2 hits with 2 walks. Ben Heller went 0.1 innings wtih a run, walk, and strikeout. Ernesto Estreaa and Yasukazu Shiotani couldn't get outs either, a hit and run a peice. Shoehi Ohtani allowed 2 (1 earned) in 0.2 innings with 2 walks and 2 strikeotus

Thomas Dillard was 3-for-4 with a solo homer, steal, double, and a walk. Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-5 with a 2 run homer, although he did strikeout all 4 other times. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-5 with a walk, double, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and steal. Cole Roederer was 3-for-5.

Arizona's Jhoan Duran tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the Rockies.

With just 10 games left, we sit 3 games out of first, and have a 2 game lead over the Braves. We're off to New York to face Michael Wacha (7-9, 4.21 ERA), Chris Sale (10-4, 4.15 ERA), and Rafael Montero (8-5, 3.05 ERA) in a crucial series that could change the landscape of the NL postseason.

Septemebr 24th-September 29th

Septemebr 24th, 2024: We opened the huge series at Citi Field with Mike Soroka (9-5, 4.81 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Michael Wacha (7-9, 4.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). It was a close one, but we edged them 5-4.

Soroka went 5 innings with 6 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Ben Heller has had a rough start since returning from the DL, allowing 2 runs with a hit and a walk. Michael Feliz, J.P. Gates, Patrick Raby, and Alpha Quivers got holds, and Jorge Moya got the save. It was Gates' debut, and he tossed 0.2 innings with a strikeout. Raby allowed a run in 0.1 innings with 2 hits.

Carlos Soler was 2-for-4 with a 2 run homer. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, walk, and RBI. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Mike Smedley was 5-for-5 as his Angels still loss 6-3 to the Astros.

September 24th, 2024: Dodgers SP Ryan Zeferjahn tore his ulnar collateral ligament and will miss the rest of this year and most of next year. He was selected 40th Overall back in 2019, and started 15 games this year. He's 1-3 with a 3.39 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 60 strikeouts in 69 innings.

A.J. Puckett (8-6, 4.01 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) took on Chris Sale (10-4, 4.15 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) in the second game of the series. They scored 5 in the 8th to edge us 9-7.

Mickey Moniak left with an injury...

A.J. Puckett went 5 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Weske made his MLB debut, tossing 2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Jorge Moya allowed 3 runs in 0.2 innings with a hit, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Chasen Shreve finished the 8th and allowed 2 more with 3 hits.

Seth Beer was 3-for-3 with a solo homer, 2 doubles, and 3 total runs scored. Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a 2 run homer and a hit by pitch. Vlad Jr. was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly, run scored, walk, and 2 RBI's.

September 26th, 2024: Luckily, Moniak's injury is minor and he'll be able to play today without worrying about risking re-injury.

We looked to win the series with Jordan Montgomery (10-8, 3.22 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) taking on Rafael Montero (8-5, 3.05 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). Moniak was given the day off, however, to get extra rest. We tried really hard to lose, but escaped with a 5-3 win.

Montgomery was great, 7 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts, although most of the damage was done in the 8th inning, where he couldn't get an out. Josh Weske earned his 2nd hold in as many days, tossing an inning. Jorge Moya allowed a hit, run, and walk, before Ernesto Estrella earned the save.

Thomas Dillard was 2-for-5 with a homer, double, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs, and a two-bagger. He also got a steal. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4 with a 2 run double. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

We're off to St. Louis to face the 4th Place Cardinals who are just 69-87. We'll see Lenny Torres (8-6, 3.49 ERA), Chris Archer (8-12, 5.02 ERA), and Tyler Beede (7-14, 5.47 ERA) in our last road series of the year.

September 27th, 2024: The Houston Astros have been eliminated from the playoffs. At 80-76, they are 9 out of first. This is the first year they've missed the playoffs since 2016.

The Dodgers are back in the postseason, and have clinched the West. At 89-68, they hold a 6.5 game lead over the Padres.

I transefered Jaheim Meggett to the 60-Day DL to purchase the contract of former 13th Rounder Gunnar Hoglund to prevent him from becoming a minor league free agent. The former 13th Rounder from 2018 is rated a 2.5 potential. Here's what I wrote about him:

"13th Round, 399th Overall: SP Gunnar Hoglund (2.5) He will stay a starter, and has great stuff as well. Sent to GCL."

Wish I expanded a little more...

He's split time between the rotation and the pen this year, with most of the time in New Orleans. He was 5-2 with a 4.64 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 22 games (7 starts). He's got a really nice fastball, a solid curve and slider, and an average change. He can also play a little corner infield.

We started the series in St. Louis with Jake Florence (13-8, 3.74 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) taking on Lenny Torres (8-6, 3.49 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). The Cardinals lineup doesn't have a single player with an overall over three stars, but they managed to beat us 5-2.

Garrett McDaniels left with a finger blister.

Florence allowed 5 runs in 2 innings with 4 hits and 4 walks. The rest of the pen pitched 7 innings with 3 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers tossed 2.2 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts.

Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo hoemr. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4. Lazaro Armenteros was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

September 28th, 2024: Lot's of playoff updtaes: The Mariners, Reds, and Mets are all in the playoffs.

We looked to even the series up with Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.54 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) taking on Chris Archer (8-12, 5.02 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). We got three in the 10th to take the middle game 6-3.

Buehler went just 5, with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Yasukazu Shiotani allowed a homer to the only hitter he faced. Michael Feliz got the win and Ben Popkin earned the save.

Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with a homer, double, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, a run, and RBI. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a double, runu scored, RBI, and a walk.

September 29th, 2024: The Rangers clinched the playoffs, and trail Seattle by 1.5 games. At 89-68, it'll be their second straight year with a postseason appearence.

We looked to win the series with Mike Soroka (10-5, 4.68 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) taking on Tyler Beede (7-14, 5.47 ERA, 1.41 WHIP). We edged them 3-2 to win our 90th game of the year.

Ben Heller left the game with an injury.

Soroka went 5, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Heller, Weske, Estrella, Quivers, and Shreve got holds while Jorge Moya earned a save. They combined for 4 innings with a hit, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

Vlad Jr. was 3-for-4 with a double, run scored, RBI, steal, and sacrafice fly. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with a run scored and a double. Nick Gordon was 2-for-3 with a walk and steal. Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with an RBI.

There's just 4 games left in the season, and we'll host the 78-80 Cubs. We'd see Justin Dunn (10-9, 5.91 ERA), Shane Greene (5-6, 6.75 ERA), Pablo Ochoa (10-11, 4.44 ERA), and Florencio Serrano (3-2, 3.68 ERA).

September 30th-October 3rd

September 30th, 2024: Ben Heller will be fine, just day-to-day with a sore elbow. He'll have the rest of the regular season off.

I say regular season, because we have clinched a playoff spot! Just 2 out of first, we will at least be a Wild Card.

Tampa Bay is also in the postseason, as their 88-70 record is enough to keep playing this year. This will be thier second straight postseason appearence as they look for their first title.

The first place Orioles at 89-69 also clinched a playoff spot, their first since 2016. Like most Orioles teams, they have a great offense with absolutely no pitching.

This may be the end of Clayton Kershaw's career, as he undergoes elbow ligament reconstruction surgery and will miss all of next season. A hall-of-famer for sure, he's 193-99 in 510 games (449 starts) with a 2.71 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 2,995 strikeouts, and 704 walks.

Minnesota will extend Byron Buxton 7-years for a total of $184,400,000. Now 30, he's a career .250/.316/.442 hitter with 199 homers and 656 RBI's, as well as 216 steals in 234 attempts.

We remain 6th in the Power Rankings.

Finally, on to the final series of the year, as we host the Cubs in front of a sold out ballpark. Three more sellouts and that will be three straight seasons. A.J. Puckett (8-6, 4.14 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) battles Justin Dunn (10-9, 5.91 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) as we look to try and win our division. We took the opener 6-1, although it should've been a shutout.

Puck tossed 7 innings with an unearned run with 4 hits, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Jorge Moya earned a 2 inning save with 4 strikeouts.

Puck also hit a homer in a 1-for-2 with 2 runs scored and a walk. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a homer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 3-for-4 with a double, run scored, walk, and RBI. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a walk, run scored, and steal.

October 1st, 2024: Jordan Montgomery (11-8, 3.19 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) took on Pablo Ochoa (10-11, 4.44 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) who was just named Pitcher of the Month for September. The Cubs got the best of us, winning 5-2.

Monty went jus 2.1 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, and a strikeout. Josh Weske allowed 2 unearned runs in 2.2 innings with a walk, hit, and 3 strikeouts. Michael Feliz went 1.2 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts before Estrella needed 1 pitch to finish the 7th. Garret McDaniels tossed 2 innings with 2 walks and a strikeout.

Mickey Moniak was 1-for-2 with a run scored, double, and two walks. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-3 with a walk. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored.

Cody Bellinger hit his 400th career homer as the Tigers beat the Indians 7-4.

October 2nd, 2024: The Braves clilnched the Wild Card, so again, three teams from the NL East will make the playoffs.

Jake Florence (13-9, 3.97 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) got the start against Shane Greene (5-6, 6.75 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) in a game that would clinch us at least homefield for the Wild Card Game. We dropped another 6-3.

Florence went 4, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 6 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Weske got the loss, allowing a run in 1.2 innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. Michael Feliz allwoed 1 more in 1.1 innings with 2 hits and a strikeout. Gunnar Hoglund made his debut, 1.1 innings with 2 htis, a run, and 2 strikeouts.

Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a homer, double, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-4 with a double. Ohtani was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Atlanta won, so now we can tie. We need to win tomorrow...

Juan Villasenor tossed a 2-hit shutout as the Mariners beat the Astros 7-0.

October 3rd, 2024: Seattle and the Mets have clinched their division.

We looked to win game 162 with Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.50 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) taking on Florencio Serrano (3-2, 3.68 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) in front of another sold out crowd. It took 11 innings, before Mickey Moniak hit a walk-off single off former Marlin Marcus Stroman.

The pitching allowed just 2 hits. Buehler allowed 1 in 5.2 innings with 2 runs, 5 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Ben Popkin allwoed a hit in 1.1 inning with a walk and 3 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers got the win and pitched 2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Scott Kingery came off the bench and was 2-for-2 with a double. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-6 with a run, RBI, and steal. Nick Gordon was 3-for-5 with a run scored and a steal.

Atlanta lost, so we'll host the Wild Card game, and the playoffs are officially set.

Wild Card Game and Divisional Series

October 5th, 2024: We started the postseason, hosting the Braves in the NL Wild Card game. I really didn't like the matchup, Mike Soroka (11-5, 4.63 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) against Lucas Sims (8-5, 3.62 ERA, 1.09 WHIP). It's shocking considering Sims is on short rest, although I still trust him more then Soroka. I should have had faith in my starter, as we won 3-2.

Soroka must've had an extra incentive in this game, as he could eliminate his former team. He tossed 7 brilliant innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Jorge Moya got a 2 inning save in his first postseason appearence. His 84 stamina comes in handy a lot.

Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-2 hitting and on stolen base attempts, with a walk and run scored.

October 6th, 2024: The Rangers hosted Tampa in the Wild Card game. The Rangers scored 3 in the 7th after starter Brendan McKay left the game with 6 quality innings, and Texas defeated Tampa 4-3.

October 7th, 2024: We arrived in New York for a five game set with the NL East Champion Mets. Jordan Montgomery (11-9, 3.31 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) took on Noah Syndergaard (17-5, 3.15 ERA, 1.03 WHIP). We scored 3 in the 6th en route to a 3-2 series openeing victory.

Montgomery went 5 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ben Heller and Alpha Quivers got holds and Jorge Moya earned another 2 inning save. Heller struck out the side in the 6th.

Vlad Jr. was 1-for-4 with a 2 run homer. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. As you can see, all the runs we scored came via the longball. Scott Kingery had a pinch hit doule in the 6th and scored on the Jr. homer. Dillard's homer actually came directly after Vlad's.

The Dodgers hosted the Reds in the other NL series. The Dodgers scored early and often and took a 1-0 series lead with a 10-2 win.

October 8th, 2024: We looked to take a commanding 2-0 lead with Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) battling Michael Wacha (7-10, 4.30 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). The Mets got 3 in the first and bounced back for a 6-1 win.

Buehler pitched just 1 inning, with 2 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and a strikeout. Michael Feliz tossed 2.1 mop up innings with 2 walks and a strikeout. Ben Popkin allowed a run in 1.1 innings with a hit, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella allowed 2 hits, including a 2 run homer, and didn't record an out.

We had just 3 hits all game. Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-3 with an RBI single. He drove in Shoehi Ohtnai, who was also 1-for-3.

It took 12 innings in the other NL game, but the Dodgers walked off winners 4-3 with a bases loaded walk.

Both AL series started today as well. The Twins hosted the Wild Card Rangers, and walked off them in the 11th 7-6. Keston Hiura hit a walk off single. The Mariners hosted the Orioles, and Janisel Rivera launched 2 homers in a 5-4 win.

All four home teams won the series.

October 9th, 2024: The Twins took game two as well, winning 6-5 and will head to Arlington with a commanding 2-0 lead. The Orioles evened the series with a 9-1 win over the Mariners. Benni Vogl launched 2 homers.

October 10th, 2024: Down 2-0, the Rangers lost SP Devon Peterson for the postseason with a torn back muscle. He was 10-13 with a 5.22 ERA in the regular season.

Jake Florence (13-9, 4.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) took on Luis Marrero (15-4, 2.81 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) as we hosted game three. Florence is 0-4 with a 7.54 ERA against the Mets this year, so, maybe 5th time's a charm? It was, and we shut them out 4-0, and are 1 game away from another NLCS.

Florence almost went the distance, 8.1 innings with a hit, walk, and 7 strikeouts. He had a no-hitter before Robert Hassell singled with 1 out in the 9th. Moya came in, allowed a single, but then got a fly out and strikeout to end the game.

Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-4 with a grand slam off Marrero in the 1st. We are really good at scoring off him early. Vlad Jr. was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Brendan Rodgers was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. Thomas Dillard walked twice, and was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

The Reds bounced back, and scored 11 in a 11-3 win over the Dodgers, as they avoided elimination.

Again, all home teams won...

October 11th, 2024: We looked to advance to the NLCS, with Mike Soroka (11-5, 4.63 ERA, 1.31: 1-0, 2.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) taking on Chris Sale. Sale is 3-0, albeit with a 4.59 ERA, against us this year. Seth Beer absotlutely kills him, 12-for-25 with a homer. It took 14 innings before a run was scored, but Austin Hedges walked it off with a pinch-hit RBI single off Francisco Morales.

And just like that, we're a series away from the World Series!

Soroka was excellent, although really everyone was who pitched. He went 6.2 innings with 4 hits, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. The rest of the pen pitched 7.1 innings with 6 hits, 3 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Yasukazu Shiotani struck out the side in the 13th. A.J. Puckett allowed 2 hits in the 14th, but got the win.

We had only 8 hits, but it doesn't matter when you win. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-6 and scored the winning run. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-5 with a double and hit by pitch. Nick Gorodn was 1-for-4 with a walk and steal. Soroka himself was 1-for-2.

We'd face the Dodgers, who scored 4 insurance runs in the 9th to take the finale 9-4.

Looking at the AL, Benni Vogl was 5-for-5 as the O's took a 2-1 lead with a 10-2 win over Seattle. The Rangers avoided elimination with a 5-2 win hosting Minnesota to force a game 4.

October 12th, 2024: With both games at 2-1, both teams down won. Seattle allowed 2 in the 9th, but walked away with a 6-5 win with help from a run in the 8th and 9th. Texas also allowed a run in the 9th, but avoided eliination with a close 3-2 win.

October 13th, 2024: No baseball today...

October 14th, 2024: A pair of game fives took place in the AL. Minnesota rallied for 12 runs to take the finale 12-5. They'd face Baltimore, who scored 1 in the 9th to beat the host Mariners 3-2.

League Championship Series

October 15th, 2024: We opened the series in LA as former Dodger Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP: 0-1, 27.00 ERA, 3.00 WHIP) took on southpaw Robinson Ortiz (7-3, 2.49 ERA, 1.17 WHIP: 0-0, 4.15 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). Both teams have had ample rest entering the matchup. We scored 2 in the 9th off CL Trevor Gott to take the opener 3-2.

Buehler was mich better, 5.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. The rest of the pen went 3.1 innings with a hit, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers earned the win, and Jorge Moya got his 3rd save of the postseason.

Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a 2 run homer in the 9th that won us the game. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a steal. Brendan Rodgers and Lazaro Armenteros were both 1-for-4 with a double.

October 16th, 2024: We looked to take a commanding 2-0 lead with Jordan Montgomery (11-9, 3.31 ERA, 1.12 WHIP: 1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) taking on Song-shi Su (13-7, 3.89 ERA, 1.28 WHIP: 0-0, 1.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). Monty has beat the Dodgers, Su has lost to us. The Dodgers got 8 in the 8th to even the series at 1 in a 15-10 slugfest.

Montgomery had a rough outing, 1.1 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and a strikeout. A.J. Puckett went 1.2 innings and didn't give up a hit, but walked 4, allowed 2 runs, and got a strikeout. It fell apart in the 8th, where Moya allowed 5 in 0.2 with 4 hits, a walk, and a strikeout and Quivers allowed 2 walks and 2 hits leading to 3 runs before Ben Popkin walked a batter and then got a fly out to end the awful inning.

Guerrero was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-5 with a solo homer and two total runs scored. They both got stolen bases. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a walk, solo homer, and two total runs scored. Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 with a 2 run homer. He was pinch hit for by Scott Kingery who doubled. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Lazaro Aremnteros was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a double, walk, 2 runs scored, and an RBI.

Gmae 1 of the ALCS had much less scoring, just 1 run in the 1st as the Twins took advantage of home field to win game 1. Joe LaBrie started and tossed 5.2 scorless innings.

October 17th, 2024: The Astros needed to make some noise in the postseason, so they extended LF Kyle Tucker to a 4-year, $94.4 million contract. It looks like a nice deal to keep someone of his caliber. The 27-year-old is a career .307/.366/.541 hitter with 175 homers and 559 RBI's since debuting in 2019.

Baltimore evened the series with an 8-3 win. Logan Daivson was 2-for-4 with a three run homer and the Orioles scored 7 in the 3rd inning.

October 18th, 2024: We started the first of three at homer with Jake Florence (13-9, 4.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP: 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.24 WHIP) taking on C.J. Jorgensen (7-5, 5.76 ERA, 1.28 WHIP: 0-1, 9.64 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). We rallied for 13 runs and took a 2-1 lead in the 13-3 victory.

Florence went 5.2 with 5 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Puck allwoed a run off 2 hits in 0.2 innings. Ben Popkin tossed 2 scorless to finish the game with a hit and strikeout.

Seth Beer was 2-for-4 and launched two out of the seats while driving in 4 runs. Shoehi Ohtani was 3-for- with a solo homer, 2 total runs scored, and a steal. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-5 with a solo shot and 2 total runs scored. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, walk, and RBI. Nick Gordon was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and 2 steals. Lazaro Armenteros was 2-for-3 with 2 runs and a steal.

October 19th, 2024: I really, really, really want to throw the game...

I get an email: "Miami's Montgomery Hurt in Accident"

Jordan Montgomery tore his labrum, and will miss 10-11 months...

"The statement did not indicate how the msihap occurred"

OMG OUT OF THE PARK WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY I'M ABOUT TO WIN THE WORLD SERIES!?!!?!?

Yes, a littl exaggeration, but this is the worst possible news...

He's off to the DL, and I added Garrett McDaniels to the playoff roster.

Well, we have to play a game knowing our best starting pitcher may not pitch for 2 years, but that's baseball.. Mike Soroka (11-5, 4.63 ERA, 1.31 WHIP: 1-0, 1.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) battled Dennis Santana (8-7, 4.34 ERA, 1.32 WHIP: 0-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.07 WHIP). And to add insult to injury, we lost 4-1 to even the series back up.

And why not add a little more injury? Michael Feliz left with an injury and my pitching staff is literally falling apart...

Soroka allowed 4 runs in 4.2 innings with 6 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. The rest of the pen tossed 4.1 innings with just a walk and 5 strikeouts.

Mickey Moniak was 1-for-4 with a leadoff homer. Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-3 with a double.

Game three of the ALCS went to 10 innings, but the Orioles walked off with a Chance Sisco homer off Aroldis Chapman to take a 2-1 lead with a 4-3 win.

October 20th, 2024: Clearly dejected, we needed to win this game to take the 3-2 lead. In a rematch of Game 1, Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP: 0-1, 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) took on Robinson Ortiz (7-3, 2.49 ERA, 1.17 WHIP: 0-0, 2.53 ERA, 0.75 WHIP) as the winner will head to LA a game away from the World Series. Fortunately, that team would not have home field, as we took the final game at home 7-4.

We're 1 game away from the World Series!

But also 1 ace away from an elite 4-man rotation...

Okay, maybe not elite, but you get the point...

Oh yeah, and Sheohi Ohtani left with an injury. It's just groin soreness that he can and will play through.

Buehler lasted just 3.1 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ben Heller tossed 2.2 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts. Yasukazu Shiotani earned the win with a perfect 7th. Jorge Moya allowed a run, 3 walks, a hit, and got a strikeout in the 8th, and got a hold. Alpha Quivers slammed the door in the 9th, K'ing 2 to earn the save.

Seth Beer was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, a homer, a run scored, and 4 RBI's. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-3 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Ohtani doubled before suffering his injury.

Baltimore is also a game away from the World Series, shutting out the Twins 6-0 and allowing just 2 hits.

How funny would it be if we face the Orioles in the Series, the team that could be my next project?

October 21st, 2024: Feliz just has back tightness, and will be DTD for 5 days.

Up 3-1 at home, the Orioles allowed 20 hits in a 12-5 loss. The series would head back to Minnesota, as both us and the Orioles have 3-2 leads.

October 22nd, 2024: We need just 1 win in 2 games to make my first World Series. A.J. Puckett (9-6, 3.92 ERA, 1.18 WHIP: 1-0, 6.75 ERA, 2.00 WHIP) had to start in place of Montgomery against Song-shil Su (13-7, 3.89 ERA, 1.28 WHIP: 0-0, 6.43 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). The Dodgers got 2 in the 8th to force Game 7 with a 4-3 win.

Puck pitched well, 7 innings with just 3 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Jorge Moya blew the game, allowing a hit, 2 runs, a walk, and a strikeout in what has been a rough postseason for him.

Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a two run homer, his 6th of the postseason. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a double. Adam Haseley had a pinch hit double in the 8th. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a steal.

October 23rd, 2024: It all comes down to today: we could be World Series bound...

Game 7 saw Jake Florence (13-9, 4.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP: 2-0, 1.29 ERA, 0.57 WHIP) and C.J. Jorgensen (7-5, 4.76 ERA, 1.28 WHIP: 0-2, 13.50 ERA, 1.88 WHIP) do battle in a series that no team has won back to back games. Both starters are actually 1st Rounders from the 2020 draft, with Florence #1 and Jorgensen #25. The bats came alive, and we topped the Dodgers 13-8 to advance to the World Series.

We did it boys!

It was rough for Florence, 1.2 innings with 5 runs, 4 hits, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Ernesto Estrella allowed a run and 4 hits with a walk and strikeout in 2.1 innings. Michael Feliz tossed 2 innings with a hit and strikeout to earn the win. Yasukazu Shiotani and Ben Heller got holds before Alpha Quivers earned a 1.2 inning save.

Seth Beer, who was named series MVP, was 3-for-5 with his 7th homer of the postseason, 3 runs, and 3 RBI's. He's hit .400 with 16 RBI's and 10 runs scored in the NLCS. Vlad Jr. was 3-for-5 with 3 doubles, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Lazaro Armentos was 2-for-5 with 2 runs and a solo homer. Austin Hedges hit a 2-run homer in the 8th in his only at bat. Thomas Dillard was 3-for-4 with a double, walk, and 2 RBI's. Brendan Rodgers was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI's.

Say hello to the "Finals, Baby" Achievement!

Corey Seager actually was 5-for-5 in the losing effort.

We'd face the Orioles, who edged the Twins 5-4 to take the ALCS in 6 games.

World Series

October 24th, 2024: We have two off days before the series starts on October 26th. We have a slightly better record, 92-70 compared to 91-71, so we'd host the series. I'd do a quick position by position comparison tomorrow:

October 25th, 2024: Here's my view on how our team stacks up against their's:

Catcher: Miami: Thomas Dillard is miles and miles away the best catcher in the league. He has an amazing bat, and while Chance Sisco is no scrub, no one in the league can comepte with Dillard's glove and power combo.

First Base: Miami: This one isn't even close, as Seth Beer, even discounting the postseason, is much better then Jake Burger. Burger is a decent hitter, but his average lags behind Beer's, and Beer has much more pop. Burger is the superior defender, but it's not even close offensively.

Second Base: Baltmiore: Logan Davidson is probably the best second basemen in the business. It's just his 2nd year, and the former 1st Rounder hit 49 homers and drove in 118 RBI's with a .320/.402/.621 line. Brendan Rodgers is a top 10 second basemen, but he's not on the same level as the younger Davidson.

Third Base: Miami: The Orioles have Juan Alfredo Walls, who's more of an average starter then a superstar like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Walls is an awful defender, and Jr, has great speed and an amazing bat. He hit 39 homers and drove in 106, while Walls, while not terible, had 27 and drove in 87. He's not terrible and just 24, but Vlad is much, much better.

Shortstop: Wash: Technically Nick Gordon is rated higher, but it's really close. Johnson is a great defender, has amazing speed, and is just 24, but hasn't hit much at all. His bat is still waiting to develop, and he hit .221/.284/.340 with just 10 homers and 39 RBI's. Gordon hit better, .252/.340/.321 with 5 homers and 49 RBI's, but neither guy is an elite shortstop.

*Sidenote: Johnson is injured, so techincally we should win here, as Nick Maldonado/Sheldon Neuse aren't really that good, but Johnson may come back.

Left Field: Baltimore: The 22-year-old Mike Verbeck is a future superstar and was great his rookie year, hitting .254/.316/.485 with 29 homers, 88 RBI's, and 28 steals. He's the best defender in the outfield, has blinding speed, and when his bat develops, he's going to be at Mike Trout level. Lazaro Armenteros is also an elite defneder in left and runner, but his bat pails in comparison to the former #2 Overall Pick.

Center Field: Baltimore: Mickey Moniak is arguably a top-5 center fielder, combining speed and athleticism with a knack for making contact, but Benni Vogl is from another world. The former 5th Overall Pick hit .302/.388/.672 with 56 homers and 140 RBI's, and should easily win MVP. Just 23, he's also one of the better defensive outfielders, although both him and Moniak have injury problems.

Right Field: Miami: I don't know how Oscar Rojas is starting on a pennant winning team, but he should be a 4th outfielder at best. Shoehi Ohtani is much better, boasting amazing power and a cannon in the outfield. He hit 26 homers and drove in 76 while also pitching a bit.

Rotation: Miami: Baltimore doesn't have the best rotation, so even with no Montgomery, we're still much better. Baltimore's "Ace" Michael Baumann isn't even better then A.J. Puckett, and Ariel Jurado and Miguel Romero shouldn't even be in a rotaiton, let alone the #3 and #4 in a rotation. Cody Sedlock at 2 isn't much better, althoguh he should be better then he performed.

On our side, Walker Buehler should be a true ace, despite his struggles this year. Jake Florence showed flashes of it in the regular season, but lost steam towards the end of the year. Mike Soroka had a rough year, but even a down year for him is better then the whole Orioles rotation. Puck acutally has the best ERA as the forced four, and is a solid back or the rotation arm.

Bullpen: Miami: I actually have a really good pen, and the Orioles have nothing. Thier closer Pedro Aruajo would pitch mop up in my pen, and they have only three guys (all 2.5) that are higher then a 2* rating. None of them have ERA's below 4.50 (Ryan Meisinger is exactly 4.50).

On our side, no relieer has an ERA over 4.50 (even Ohtani is 4.44) and our pen ranked 3rd in the NL. Moya saved 44 games and had a respectable 3.65 ERA. Setup men Chasen Shreve (2.04) and Alpha Quivers (2.93) are as dependable as it gets in the pen. Yasukazu Shiotani, our lefty specialist, tossed 71 innings with a 1.90 ERA. Michael Feliz, Ernesto Estrella, and Ben Popkin also had seasons.

Recap: It looks like we are the better team, and should win this series, but there is a reason we play out these games...

Stay tuned for Game 1 of the 2024 World Series tomorrow!

October 26th, 2024: Walker Buehler (6-8, 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP: 0-1, 7.20 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) opened the World Series against Michael Baumann (12-6, 4.66 ERA, 1.40 WHIP: 0-1, 4.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) and the AL Champion Orioles in a packed and loud Marlins Park. 7 of our 9 lineup positions, according to the game, have the better player on our side. We started this series like we have every postseason series so far, with a win, this time 7-5. Can we end it the same too?

Buehler was great, 7 innings with 4 hits, a run, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella allowed 2 runs in the 8th, allowing 4 hits. Michael Feliz allowed a walk before Jorge Moya came in the game. He allowed 3 hits, including a homer, and let Feliz' runner score, but ended up striking out the side.

Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a triple. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-2 with a double, run sored, and 2 walks. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-5 with an RBI double.

October 27th, 2024: We looked to take a commanding 2-0 lead, with Mike Soroka (11-5, 4.63 ERA, 1.31 WHIP: 1-1, 2.95 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) taking on Cody Sedlock (8-8, 5.07 ERA, 1.47 WHIP: 1-2, 3.31 ERA, 1.04 WHIP): Jr. is one of the few players with any at bats against the opposing pitcher, and is an impressive 10-for-20 with 3 homers. It took 11 innings for a run to score, as Logan Davison hit a solo shot off Chasen Shreve. We tied it up in the bottom half with a Vlad Jr. homer off Keegan Akin. Akin was back out for the 12th, and Nick Gordon took him deep to walk us off 2-1 winners.

Two. More.

Soroka was amazing, 8 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella got the win, a perfect 12th with a strikeout.

Gordon, the second hero, was 2-for-5 with a double. Vlad Jr. was 1-for-4 with a walk and the game tieing blast. Lazaro Armenteros was 2-for-3 with a walk and steal.

October 28th, 2024: We headed to Baltimore, but the Rockies announced they extended RHP Justin Lawrence 3 years, for $3,160,000 per year. The 29-year-old has 102 career saves and had a breakout 2024, going 8-3 with 28 saves, a 2.63 ERA, and 1.11 WHIP.

October 29th, 2024: We had a chance to take a 3-0 lead, as Jake Florence (13-9, 4.04 ERA, 1.41 WHIP: 2-0, 4.02 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) looked to bounce back against Miguel Romero (9-6, 4.35 ERA, 1.32 WHIP: 1-0, 1.35 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) at historic Camden Yards. We scored 7 in the 9th, but it wasn't nearly enough to win, as we lost 15-11 as the Orioles managed to get a game back.

Mickey Moniak and Lazaro Armenteros both left with injury. Moniak will play through his back tightness, while Armenteros' injury is still pending...

Florence allowed 5 in 2 innings with 7 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella allowed 3 in 0.2 inings with 3 hits and a walk. Garrett McDaniels allowed 3 runs off 3 hits without getting an out. Three more relievers allowed runs, and the only one not to was Chasen Shreve, who ended the 8th with a 4 pitch strikeout.

Deshawn Hardamon was the DH, and went 1-for-4 with 2 runs scored, 3 driven in, a walk, and a homer. Nick Gordon was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a 2 run homer and a walk. Mickey Moniak was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's and 2 doubles before his injury. Armenteros was 2-for-5 with a 2 run double before his injury.

October 30th, 2024: We looked to bounce back with A.J. Puckett (11-8, 4.48 ERA, 1.38 WHIP: 1-0, 4.09 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) facing Ariel Jurado (11-8, 4.48 ERA, 1.38 WHIP: 1-1, 3.09 ERA, 0.94 WHIP) in game four. Adam Haseley played LF and hit 7th for Lazarito.

ONE. MORE. GAME.

We scored 4 in the 10th to take Game Four 9-5!

Puck went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs, a walk, 6 hits, and a strikeout. Ernesto Estrella and Yasukazu Shiotani allowed a run in 0.1 innings. Jorge Moya tossed 2.1 innings with 3 hits and earned hte win.

Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with two three run homers. He's hit 10 and drove in 25 during the postseason. The real life record is 8 and 21 (Barry Bonds, Nelson Cruz, and Carlos Beltran for homers, David Freese for RBI's), so Beer has done what no other player has every accomplished in real baseball. Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Mickey Moniak didn't let injury stop him, and he went 2-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-4 with a walk, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's.

October 31st, 2024: Lazarito's diagnosis came back negative, and he's at full strength for game five.

This could be it, as Walker Buheler (6-8, 4.44 ERA, 1.37 WHIP: 1-1, 4.76 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) took on Michael Baumann (12-6, 4.66 ERA, 1.40 WHIP: 0-2, 5.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) in a game 1 rematch. Up 3-1, we scored 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, and 3 in the 6th, to win Game 5 and the 2024 World Series 7-3!!!!!!

WE DID IT!!! WE DID IT!!! WE DID IT!!!

YOUR MARLINS ARE THE 2024 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!

Buehler went 5.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. The rest of the pen finished the final 3.1 innings with 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts.

Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-3 with a two run homer. Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and his 26th RBI. Nick Gordon, who was named MVP despite Beer being a God, was 1-for-3 with a walk. Shoehi Ohtani was 3-for-5 with a run scored, RBI, and double. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, RBI, and double. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-4 with a sac bunt. Lazarito was 1-for-3 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and a sacrafice fly.

Isn't this just beautiful?

I had to take a moment and realize wahat I just did, taking the Miami Marlins to the World Series in my 7th year. My career record is 590-545 with 4 playoff appearences and an NL East Championship.

Fear not Marlin fans, I'm not jumping ship, as these Marlins will live on!

But that does mean that in an alternate universe, GM Anthony Yaghmour got a call from the Baltimore Orioles and has accepted their General Manager offer.

Thanks for reading, hope you all enjoyed, and will continue to enjoy both this, and my next chapter!
