Lightbulb Perfect Team - FAQ Thread

This thread is for posting questions, we will answer then and update this post with the FAQ.

So, go ahead and post your questions about Perfect Team and how it will work.

Q: What happens after the public beta of PT concludes?
A: Once the beta ends late November / early December, we will reset all accounts, so all teams and all cards get wiped out! However, if you did buy Perfect Points with real money, these will not get lost but rather will be redistributed to your Perfect Points balance. Then we will officially launch PT to all users and everybody starts their journey to immortality from scratch (in terms of player cards)

Q: What are the rules of a league inside Perfect Team, compared to default OOTP league rules?
A: No scouting, no injuries, no coaching staff, no finances / contracts / trades, no player morale system. Player development is disabled. 25 players active roster limit, 175 players on reserve roster limit. Players demoted to the reserve roster have to stay there for a minimum of 14 days (league time). Only one card per player allowed on the active roster. Default player rating scale is 1-100 (display of ratings > max enabled), but can be changed by user. You must keep at least 20 players, 4 starters, 4 relievers, and at least 7 players in each lineup or the AI may set up your roster.

Q: How often are games simulated on the server?
A: We simulate 31 league days per real day, one simulation every 30 minutes, starting at 10 AM ET and ending at 1 AM ET.. The regular season starts on Mondays and ends on Saturdays. On Sundays the postseason will be simulated. Entry Pool leagues are being simulated every 30 minutes as well, but 24/7.

Q: Will there be a head-to-head mode where I can manage my games live?
A: Not yet. We do plan to feature head-to-head play in exhibition challenges in a future version, though.

Q: Will the point system be based off team performance and will players be able to buy better cards?
A: The more & better/rare achievements your players / team earns (eg. a player hitting 3 HR in a game, or a team victrory after being down by 5 runs...) the more Perfect Points you earn, which in turn allow you to get more player card packs. You can also earn new player card packs by unlocking achievements in Challenge Mode solo leagues. And yes, you can also buy Perfect Points with real money if you so desire.

Q: I don't play Challenge Mode, will I be at a disadvantage because I don't earn any points through it?
A: Actually, playing Challenge Mode will not get you Perfect Points, it will occasionally give you player card packs when unlocking an achievement, but at a rate that will not give frequent users of Challenge Mode a big advantage over users who do not play it. Most of the progress (via Perfect Points) in Perfect Team will be generated in the simulated leagues (by unlocking achiements, making the playoffs, winning awards etc.) or if you are lucky and pull a rare card and sell it for a lot of points on the market, which in turn allows you to invest in more packs to improve your team.

Q: You said in the screenshot thread that 'regular card packs' will cost 1,000 Perfect Points (~$0.99 USD); are there more types of packs than just 'regular' then? If so, what are the other types like, and what will they cost?
A: We'll also have a Gold Pack for 5,000 PP which guarantees a gold card. The rest of the odds are identical to the regular pack. We will also have special packs for special events, for example All-Star Packs, in OOTP 20. Prices for those are to be determined.

Q: What's the process of selling a card? Do we sell it to another player for points or does it get bought back by OOTP? If selling it to another player how does that process actually work?
A: There are two ways of selling a card.:
1) Sell immediately for a fixed amount, based on value category (regular card = 1 Perfect Point, bronze = 25 PP, silver = 100 PP, gold = 1,000 PP, diamond = 4,000 PP, perfect = 20,000 PP. If you do this, the card will simply disappear in our system and you get the PP added to your balance immediately.
2) Put a card up for auction. You'll likely use this for cards >= gold, unless you need the PP quick. When putting a card up for auction, you can set a) the start price and b) a "buy now" price, which becomes unavailable as soon as the first bid comes in. You can also set the duration of the auction, which is between 1 and 24 hours. The rest essentially works similar to eBay.

Q: Will the Perfect Point rewards be as pictured in the photo (25 for bronze achievements, 250 for silver, presumably 2,500 for gold?), or are those placeholder values that will be balanced/tweaked throughout the beta?
A: These are placeholder values and already have been changed since the screenshots were taken. The values depend on the rarity of the achievement and range from 20 PP to 10,000 PP.

Q: It appears that 2018 Live and historical cards are mixed together in packs, not sold as separate types of packs, is that correct?
A: Yes, that is correct. Historical cards are twice as rare as Live cards, though.

Q: Since the Live cards will be tied to real player stats, will it be possible for a card to jump in value from, say, a Bronze to a Gold if a player has a breakout season that year?
A: Yes, absolutely.

Q: Will your team reset in OOTP 20, or can you carry it over from version to version?
A: With each new major release, a brand new Perfect Team universe for that version will start, it would technically be impossible to play in OOTP 20's Perfect Team with OOTP 19 or carry your team over. However, previous version's Perfect Team worlds will remain active for several years, so we won't shut down OOTP 19's Perfect Team once OOTP 20 launches.

Q: Will Perfect Team be available for the Linux version of OOTP?
A: No, I am sorry. The service provider we use for the technology does not support Linux.

Cheers,
Markus

With you simming 28 times a day are injuries disabled?

I can't sim more than a week at a time without losing a starting pitcher or outfielder and since I have a job there is no way I can constantly be checking in to swap out cards.

Yes, injuries are disabled in Perfect Team. Position player fatigue is enabled though, but that is handled by the depth chart sub settings, so it's nothing to worry about.

Is it a pitch by pitch game where you get to do everythibg you want with your team like in PS4? Or just get your team and ready and let the game SIM it oike in OOTP MP the Commisionner does?

No, it is an online simulation mode, you cannot play your games manually. Leagues are hosted on our servers and simulations run automatically, during regular season 28 times a day during a 14-hour period (probably 10 AM ET to midnight ET)..

There's no way to get into the closed beta, it's for our established beta team only. Public beta will start late October.

Since finances, contracts, and trades are disabled, is there still going to be an option where a player can be released? Or is it basically, once you have a player, they are there for the duration?

How much should a player expect to have to spend on in-app purchases to be competitive?

You have the ability to deactivate a card and there is no limit to deactivated cards

You can not release a player card per se, but you can deactivate it (unlimited number of deactivations possible) which is essentially the same, or you can sell the card of course.

We expect players can be very competitive without spending real money.

Will your team reset in OOTP 20, or can you carry it over from version to version?

(Super excited for this game mode, BTW)

I believe they said elsewhere that the team/card collection will reset in each OOTP version, but that they are looking into finding some way to allow cards from past versions to be utilized somehow in 'exhibition' leagues or something like that, separate from the main PT game/leagues.

With each new major release, a brand new Perfect Team universe for that version will start, it would technically be impossible to play in OOTP 20's Perfect Team with OOTP 19 or carry your team over. However, previous version's Perfect Team worlds will remain active for several years, so we won't shut down OOTP 19's Perfect Team once OOTP 20 launches.

Will there be a way to transfer a portion of what you have between versions? Such as transferring Perfect Points (or a fraction of Perfect Points) between OOTP 19 and OOTP 20?
