Historical Rosters

Hey guys, I have been playing OOTP for a year or so now, mostly like standard custom games and some MLB games. I get pretty confused with the databases and downloading and I could use some help. What I want to do is create a dynasty league with some of the all time great teams (1927 Yanks, 1975 Reds, etc). I have been trying to research how to do this but I just can't figure it out. I have seen a lot of stuff like this done so I know it must be possible.

I read that these rosters are already in the game so I don't have to download anything, right? So far I created a custom game, went to league structure, and got to button that says add historical team. But I can't find any teams. I went to data default/statistics/ but I can't find anything. There are never any teams to chose on the drop down menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're on the right track. One way is to back up (from where you left off) thru the game folders to the historical.odb file. Been a while since I've done this.

You are definitely close.

Go to League Setup, then Edit League Structure, then select add historical team, then select historical_database.odb (this should be in the OOTP Baseball 14/stats folder. That select the year, hit refresh teams list, and you should see a list of teams from that season and you can select your team.

Question

Hello fellow OOTP sim fans, I have read your reply to the Historic Roster League, and am not following it correctly. For some reason, I can only reach this page (please see attachment), and I don't see the "Refresh Teams List". What am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks much...

It looks to me that you are still setting up the league. You'll want to get your league set-up first, and can either do a historical league, or even a fictional league. The important thing is to get the correct year settings that you want to use during the set-up. You are going to delete the teams anyway, which is why that doesn't matter too much.

Once the league is set-up, go to Game > Setup & Options > League Setup > Functions > Edit League Structure. Delete all the teams, then follow those instructions, and it should do the trick.

Two things you'll want to do after the league is set-up. First go to Free Agents and delete all of the fictional players. Use the radio button to select all, then right click and Delete players. Then go back in to League Setup and on the Rules tab disable transactions (assuming that you don't want trades taking place).

Thumbs up

Great, thank you. I am a transfer from TBCB (hence Mountain Rivera moniker), and am reasonably new to OOTP, though I am familiar with the incredible OOTP Player Photos and Stadium Profiles.
I have only played 4 or 5 season replays so far, this game/sim is completely worked, it is a masterpiece, and thanks - I would like to try a mixture of era's, grateful thanks again.
