Anyone Tried Contraction?

Has anyone made their fictional league smaller? If so, did you just release the players from those teams or was their some kind of draft?

i've reduced my league from 52 back to 48 after the 52 with 3 minors got to be a bit much to deal with. i went through the league history and picked the 4 worst teams over the previous 10 years to delete. i just released the players, and let the remaining teams pick and choose what players they could use. It did make a glut of my Free Agent list for a few years and some players i felt were more than good enough to be picked up by some of the weaker teams weren't.

When you contracted, was there a choice to release the players to FA vs. a draft, or did the act of deleting the teams just make the players FAs?

don't recall. i just deleted the teams and let them go to FA and let teams bid on whomever they desired. i guess i could have held a free agent draft at that point. you can schedule a FA draft anytime.
