Thought you'd get a kick out of seeing how I've incorporated major notes on both prospects and starters into their histories. This serves to remind me of my evaluations during critical points of their development and in the assignment of roles on the roster.

Thumbs up

There is no longer an installer. This zip file can just be unzipped and run the .exe. If you are overwriting an existing install, make sure you overwrite all the files and not just the .exe!

New features/bug fixes:

1. A very much needed help/read me at startup
2. Now an option to remember your league path if you have to browse to get to it
3. Initial graph is pre-selected on the graph page so that it can be de-selected.
4. The correct tab is pre-selected on the graph page.
5. More descriptive error message when csv files can't be found.
6. More error handling.
7. Talent change highlights in the grid remain after sorting
8. Leaving "oldest baseline" and "newest baseline" in the date drop downs no longer cause huge performance hit. It is still very slightly slower (3.5 seconds for 115 player organization vs. 3.0 seconds), and I'm not sure why.
9. Overall speed improvements.
*10. Players display teams correctly in the grid

*The DevTracker will display all players who played for a team during the selected date range. So if a player is no longer on a particular team but played for that team during the selected date range, he will display in the grid. However, the team displayed in the team column for that player is now the team the player currently plays for.

There may be a few other tweaks I can't think of.

Endgame, I wasn't able to easily figure out a way to alternate row colors on different players. I'll look more into this for the next patch. I'm not sure how I would do this and still retain the talent change background, though. My initial thought was to alternate a heavier border around alternating players. Not sure if this is possible, though. Thoughts?

If there are any other feature requests, suggestions or criticisms, hurl 'em at me. Here or email.

Enjoy!

Sure, Bruce. I can get it to you late tonight or tomorrow, if Neags doesn't post it up sooner somewhere else. I thought it had made its way to one of the mod sites, but I'm probably mistaken. Love this tool. I think you will, as well. You might PM Neags23 if you want quicker access.

Thanks. I checked PadreFans Mod site and he has it but the same result when trying to download. Link opens the Law Firm page.

Yeah, sorry guys, I had to take the file off of the download site. I built that law firm website and was using their webspace to host some files, but I've stopped doing work for them temporarily, so I had to take it down.

If anyone has a place I can upload it, I can update the link.

I'd email it, but I don't know of any email that will let you send .exe files.

EG, if you can distribute a copy some way, please feel free to do so.

Do you have winzip or winrar? If so, you could zip it up and send it to PadreFan. I'm sure he'd be happy to host it as he hosts many other files.

Thanks, please let us know how you make out.

I'm sure someone will host it, but meanwhile if you want me to send a .rar email to you, just PM me with your addy. IIRC, v2.02 is only about a half meg in .rar.

I've tried mailing it as a .zip and a .rar, but gmail still detects the .exe in there.

I could temporarily change the .exe extension to something like .change. Maybe that would work.

If you haven't PMed endgame with your address feel free to PM me and I'll try to get it to you, as well.

Thanks to endgame for sending me the file.

Now the problem is, everytime I run it, it stops running after loading everything. I've run the CSV Export, simmed a few days, run it again. It loads everything, then when it gets to "Filling Players" it stops working.

I have netframework 3.5 installed.

Even went as far as uninstalling that and reinstalling.

I'm running Vista, does that make a difference I wonder?

This is a fictional league btw.

Bruce, if you've got the program actually running, then the problem is more likely with your data. Is this an out of the ordinary league setup? (I've tried to make sure any league setup will work, but definitely possible one could slip through.)

I've gotten it to work on Vista before, but my Vista machine is currently busted, so I can't test. I don't think that should be an issue, though.

And just to make sure you're running through the process correctly, let's start from scratch.

1. Go to your import_export folder, and clear out any "devTracker2 baselines" folder.

2. If you've got csv's already exported, you can either run the program or export new csv's.

3. When you run the program, choose your league. It will start to load and say something to the effect of not being able to find a baseline, but one will be created.

4. Close the program (you don't actually have to do this, but this is a more fail-safe way, so let's do it this time), sim however long you want, and re-export csv's.

5. Run the program again, select your league, and when it loads, it should say something like, "new export detected. would you like to write a baseline?" Select yes, and when it loads, you should have the main screen to choose teams, players, whatever.

If these steps don't work, email me your csv's and I'll debug with those and see where it's bombing. I'll only need the players.csv, teams.csv, leagues.csv, players_batting.csv, players_pitching.csv, and players_fielding.csv.

You can find my email address in the "About" menu in the devTracker2 program.

League setup is 2 leagues, 2 divisions, 4 teams per division.

Retried everything, still getting the same problem.

Can't get your email addy because I can't get far enough in the program where it opens.

Well, I think I've figured out the problem. It could be my league configuration.

2 Leagues, 2 Divisions, 4 teams per division.

I set up a test league using a standard MLB configuration and the tool worked fine.

Side note - I notice there's no option for the 1-20 ratings scale in the options. Is this going to be added in the future?

Tks

Bruce, that's not such a weird setup that the program should bomb.

If you still want to email me your csv files, please do so. Maybe there's a bug in there somewhere.

As for the 1-20 scale, I didn't realize I'd forgotten that one.

I'll add that when the new version of OOTP gets released, because I'll need to make changes for that, anyway.

This problem was indeed a data issue. Looks like a glitch in the players.csv file.

If anyone had a similar problem, spot check your .csvs and make sure there's nothing weird in there, like blank columns.
