Holy mistake, batman!

I shot myself in the foot onthis choice. the second C (webb) is easily the best rated the league has ever seen... yet this guy wiht no power might be better, lol. (his power is actualyl higher, i had to look for this thread. ~70/100 ish, which is why i can say he is the best C in 56years that i've seen in this league.)

i just didn't want to believe he was a .350+ hitter (eddington), i guess. that overcomes the lack of power and produces 70-80rbi which is what i'd see with ~20hr type power out of a catcher and decent BA. ops+ is bloated, but war is representative... (usually hte opposite for my types of players.. ops+ is usually a more accurate metric)

i have to keep pushin webb though... ceiling is higher. ~30hr high BA etc. maybe not ~.350 of course. by the end of 2072 i had a complete 180 for C depth. webb was 1/5 days.

oops cut off war.. was 5.5 for the .416 BA season... only 86 games... nm that's sky high too.. bloated dreck.

I plugged their ratings into my spreadsheet and find Edington to be better too. He's slightly worse with no runners on base compared to Webb, but he is better at advancing runners (and this bonus will be multiplied more if he's batting 4th), and he will be on base for the following batters more (after subtracting HRs, I get 0.335 OBP vs 0.304 OBP).

like i said, hit ratings aren't showing true.. another 20pts of power (of 200) and that adds x to contact too. it's probably close enough that the imprecision of that equation makes them within the realm of equal.

i'll try to split them up and see what happens. but, my team is quite a different animal than other teams. that guy was batting 8th at one time.. i did move himup because webb was a suitable bat too. i don't like dealing with Catcher subs, so i just bat them 8th typically. i like a speedy obp guy 9th, since it's too costly for 8 or 9 power bats.

so only rates can compare after i split them up on different teams; 1 being mine of course. i may keep eddington just to maximize his chance at .400 and qualifying ab's.

I'm not sure what you mean by power adding to contact. I mean, the resulting contact numbers are a result of power, avoid ks, and the hidden babip. Are you saying power adds more hits beyond the amount that it increases the contact rating?

Yea, the scouting inaccuracy is known, i looked. i didn't take note of the real contact rating.. power was 141/200 whichi is ~72/100 and ~61 is shown (w/e screen shot says). which dominos into the displayed contact being under-reported too.

so if you used ratings in the comparison, they aren't quite accurate. stats are augmenting them too. i don't eddington's contact is accurately displayed too. although not as far off most likely.
