All fooling around aside...

I know that the financials can't be modeled this way but couldn't you put together a quick start of each season then import players from one universe into the next? Can league-wide stats be imported or just players? As you can tell I work very little with importing.

Or is that that an insane amount of work?

What if multiple people worked on separate decades. 10 seasons per person sounds doable. I must be missing something...I guess.

I personally think a lot of things in the game could be made controllable by .csv or other external files. It would allow advanced users to make the kind of changes they want without having to burden the game's interface with supporting a myriad of even more customization settings and selections.

As long as the construction and use of such external files is well-documented, I don't see any issue with offloading certain advanced operations within the game to files outside the game proper.

Just start from the 1st year a team had a AAA or even a minor league affiliate of any kind. White Sox did not have a AAA until 1946. They seemed to have nothing prior to 1932.
1932, 1934 go with the Class D
1935, 1937-39 St Paul American Association Double A
1936 Kansas City " "
1940-1945 go back with Class D
1946 Milwaukee
I see why he wont so it is not a big deal to me just would be another nice little add on.

I usually play with historical players so I'm interested in the "fictional league with historical player pool". Is it essentially a more developed version of the "random debut" feature from the past two versions? Such as, the historical player pool can exclude 19th century players, or only include players in their 20's? These two would be awesome.

Which minor league teams in which minor leagues? What about all the other major league clubs and their minor league affiliates?

One sub league is the Eastern/International League the other is the American Association
They have a 30 man roster limit, will play an All Star game when the game decides and will Division winners will face off in the Little World Series

Now, I want all my MLB teams to have an affiliate, so I go to baseball reference and look for consistency

International League (AAA) Encyclopedia and History - Baseball-Reference.com

I see the league take shape in 1912 and look forward...there are some changes but some are redundant or inconsequential in hindsight, therefore I am going with

Baltimore O's (will change to Orioles in 1903, Richmond Virginians in 1954)
Buffalo Bisons
Jersey City Skeeters (Giants in 1937, Ottawa A's 1951, Havana Sugar Kings 1955 Tidewater Tides 1970)
Montreal Royals
Newark Indians (Bears, 1920, Springfield Cubs )
Providence Grays (to Syracuse Stars in 1920, chiefs in 1930---I take liberty with the dates)
Rochester Hustlers (Red Wings 1930)
Toronto Maple Leafs

Some movement I let slide by like Montreal to Reading, Montreal has way more history in the league same with the 1950's Miami Marlins fiasco
.
Now, affiliation...I just go to wikipedia

Montreal Royals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On the right, it is clear Montreal has been Brooklyn's mainstay so for 1901 Brooklyn Superbras have Montreal as the AAA

Toronto is Philadelphia A's

You look at the same for the American Association, and you will find the Yankees,Cardinals,Dodgers usually had 2 AAA teams, which is why they dominated and the White Sox and Senators struggled.

Make a judgement call

But with the AA and IL in a AAA league with two sub leagues you will have the same number of teams as MLB so everyone should have an affiliate.
and AA is even easier, except for the Federal league hiccup with Toledo it stayed constant through 1952.

Sometimes in baseball it just works out nicely.
