.400 hitter possibility looming

It's probably a fairly common occurrence (I'm not a huge OOTP veteran) but I've never had a .400 hitter before. This young, 25 year old lefthanded hitting, erstwhile batting crown winner, Lucas Turner, has a realistic shot at it.

I'm about halfway through September.

He'll probably fade in the final week and a half.

I'll give an update. I'm simming one day at a time at this point of the season.

With league settings and totals set to normal levels it is rare. Maybe a bit more than normal because injuries are still not at real life levels. But it is rare.

Now the 56 game hitting streak is ultra rare. It can be done but I have never had one anywhere close in my leagues and my time spent here has shown that only a handful of people have posted about them.

Now saying that...
I did have a player have two 30+ hitting streaks in one season in a league that only had 120 games a season.

I also had a player with a RBI streak of 27 games which shatters the MLB record.

I think the best I've ever seen in one of my modern leagues was a .380 avg, but he also drew a ton of walks and his obp was over .500 I think.

In one of my leagues in OOTP 16, after 15 years or so playing the game out I got my hands on a player that hit above .400 4 years in a row. I haven't had a single player like that since.

I have a significant amount of seasons across several leagues, (mainly OOTP 15 onwards) and I had my first a few weeks ago. .4031 in 2050 (modern MLB, just started with the rosters from the game's first release, simmed until 2025, took over a team.)

It's probably going to be a Ted Williams situation.

He'll need at least six hits to reach the mark, seven hits if he gets a 13th AB.

Without meaning to kill the buzz, but would now be a good time to ask you what skin you are using? It looks mighty fine.

Nothing wrong with asking; this must be the default setting. I have only goofed around with the skin settings once and just left it as is.

This is the NABA quickstart download.

I'm in September so it will be a slow conclusion as I will only sim a day at a time and look around the league to see what's happening.

2 for 3 in his last game knocks the aveage up 1 point to .396.

He's really going to have to catch fire to do this but he has been on fire all season to be where he is now.

Damn, I didn't realize he had only 1 game left. A valiant effort as he went 2 for 4 to finish the season. So close....

I've seen one .400 hitter - I had a guy on my team back in OOTP 6 that was sitting at .400 with two games to play. My team had clinched a playoff spot and home field advantage so having nothing to play for I sat him (and most of my other regulars) and let the AI play out the last two games.

Of course, the AI couldn't leave well enough alone and used him as a pinch-hitter in both games. He went 2-2 and finished the season with a .402 average.

Barring a catastrophic career ending injury and given his young age, this should be a very interesting career to follow.

I said somewhere else recently that a number like .397 can have almost the same cachet has .406 if it's the highest for a long while and nobody comes close.

As in ".397. Wow, how close he came! There was a series just before Mother's Day that year when we went 1 for 12. Imagine if he had gotten just three more hits that weekend . . . "

That kind of thing.
