Even if that's the case, I have no doubt about the quality of your contributions, past, present, and future. You're always in the game.

It's great to see someone in the community here already taking up the task of ballpark building. I looked into it, but I realized that already spending so much time working on audio, photography, and video, I simply wasn't going to be able to invest the time needed to become proficient at 3d modeling too. As others have said, if your ballparks can match up to the quality of other things you have produced, we are in for a treat.

Having reversed faces will not cause the model to "malfunction" so to speak. It's just that the outside faces are default white (light angle depending), and the inside faces are grey. When applying a texture to the default color, as shown in my previous post, the color shifts out of balance if two faces are different.

But, there is another good reason to have the outside faces outside. When extruding a face, there are times where the extrusion causes the faces to reverse, showing the inside face on the outside. Caution should be taken when making those extrusions so that objects are not being built inside out. Again, not devastating, but from a texture point of view, it can be frustrating to have to flip tons of faces.

Additionally, some built in textures have transparencies, meaning that if the face is reversed, the transparency is as well.

Fooling around with SketchUp today - working on the Baker Bowl, home of the Phillies from 1895 to 1938. I'm using many of the details found at Clem's ballparks site, which is a wonderful resource.

This is still very much a work-in-progress, as can be seen. I'm mainly focusing on testing out some of the tools and techniques that I'm still learning. The Baker Bowl is a relatively "easy" stadium - very few strange angles and shapes.

Yeah, that's beautiful! Keep going!

The image below is a sample of what some grandstands might look like with a transparent railing in front of row 1 and the walking path. Instead of a 3D model railing, for speed and simplicity, I used a stock iron railing texture over a face where the inside face is shown "out" for better visibility.

Ok, So I've got 10 teams in my fictional league. I worked on the two projects above in at least some detail.

I just finished creating the basic field and wall design for the other 8 teams in my league and will probably move through them adding details as I go. (for example, I will add foul poles to each stadium, then color each stadium's fences and so on until I get to the where I just stick with the smaller details on one stadium before moving to the next)

Anyway, here are shots of the rest of the teams. I tried to come up with some different infield styles for diversity sake.

excellent job everyone! It's great seeing so much progress in such a short amount of time.

I propose we get a sticky thread going to showcase our creations.

Some really cool things here, I love 'em all! I do have some questions:

How do you make a pentagon for home plate?

Do you use the ruler tool to measure out all the distances?

How do you get everything where it's supposed to be (like the pitchers rubber)?

Are the baselines made using the line tool?

Sorry if these are some stupid questions but I'm sorta inspired by these pics.

Answers:
To draw home plate, find the dimensions on the MLB website, and draw it easily in Sketchup, or your favorite modeler. If you want extra detail, remember to extrude it for its thickness.
When drawing lines, there will already be a dimensioning tool letting you know how far the line extends, so no worries there.
When you follow the strict dimensions for a ML infield, drawing the diamond is easy. Just draw a square including all the items in the infield, then make it a group, and then rotate the whole mess 45 degrees.
Probably, the best way to make the baselines is to use a white, wide line, 3" wide that extends from the outline of the batter's boxes. Make all the lines 3" wide, and you should be good.
