For those considering OOTP 15 - The reason I keep coming back

Forgive me - I know this post has been repeated many times.

"We Laughed, We Cried" is still my favorite OOTP story of all-time. I've had similar attachments to players and tough decisions along the way - stressing over moving on from a player too soon or too late. This is one of the many reasons I love this game still 10 years later. I can't say that about any other game or hobby.

Not nearly as emotionally moving as Rascoe, but a thread like this would be lacking if someone didn't bring up http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...orkholder.html.

It seems like everyone has that one player that they cannot let go no matter how rough the going gets.

I am that way with the last player I choose in my first amateur free agent draft. I won't give up on that guy ever. I will stick him in AAA or AA until he retires or I inevitably start a new game.

I read this once a year and always laugh out so hard that it hurts.

Probably because you did this to him!

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

The first dynasty I truly got attached to, I had a player I signed in FA, Hector Rodriguez, age 27. I got 17 terrific years out of him on I believe 4 or 5 contracts. Even when his last contract was up, and his ratings declining, I agonized over signing him (even if in my head I knew it would be horrible if I did). I ended up letting him go, he signed with the Dodgers and retired a year later.

That's a classic. That inspired me to write one of the few league stories of my own that I ever put up (http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-my-story.html).

I usually don't do 'fictional' leagues. But this makes me want to really dive into one. Great story!
