I notice my team scores alot of goals and also allows alot of goals.

I would like a few of you guys to post your tactics for your four lines and your PK units. My goalie is allowing up to 5 goals a game. Thank you.

I'm still messing around with different tactics and trying to figure out if what seems like it should work actually does work in the context of the game.

In real life, I'd value guys who were at least average in skating speed, but above average in puck control and passing. A lot of testing is required to see if those types of skills translate over to FHM.

Then there's the issue of our perception of players and how they are rated on specific attributes.

TL;DR - right now, your guesses are just as good as ours.

Not sure if this helps but i started messing around with my special teams lines with specific attributes.

For PK i started using guys with good:

- Faceoffs (Winning faceoffs)
- Strength (Defend opponents screens)
- Shot Blocking (Willingness to block shots)
- Defensive Read (Understanding what the offense is trying to do)
- Positioning (Respond to defensive situation...defensive read understands it and positioning reacts to it)
- Checking (Lower offensive chances)
- Stamina (How long skater can take shifts)
- Stick Checking (Cause puck carrier to lose possession)
- Bravery (Willingness to put self into risky postions in corners or in front of net)
To get some SH goals
- Acceleration
- Agility
- Speed

As for PP
- Faceoffs (Winning faceoffs)
- Getting Open (Find place to shoot from when player doesnt have the puck)
- Passing (Ability to make tape to tape passes)
- Shot Accuracy (Ability to hit target)
- Screening (Ability to reduce goalies chance of making a save)
- Offensive Read (Respond to current situation when on offense)

Both my special teams increased immediately

I added in parentheses a quick summary of the attribute based on the manual

Thank you Beezer! But i was actually asking about line tactics for the four lines, Even Strength. For example how are your first two lines set up? Skating? Passing? Tempo? Etc...

One thing that may help is to evaluate your players' performances through advanced statistics. This is a tool I've utilized with developing the Flyers defensive prospects. I've been looking at stuff like Corsi, Fenwick and PDO numbers to try and get a better visual picture of what my players are doing with what lines I'm deploying them on. This allows me to gain a better understanding of how they're faring against the competition and if they could be better used on another line.

Granted, the larger the sample size you have, the better those stats as predictors will be. However, during playoffs, I did use short-term advanced stats to see who was driving possession and I found that one of my rookies really shined in the first few games....so he earned more ice time until he regressed.
