Despite a 16-10 September, we finished in second place by ONE GAME to the Stephens Rattlers, who closed the year out with six straight wins. Ouch. Danny Nese capped off an amazing rookie year with a win on the last day of the season, leaving him at 19-6 with a 3.06 ERA, but it was too little too late. William Dodge won 17 games with a 4.00 ERA. Mike Beavers was amazing again, hitting .300 with 33 homers, and he'll almost certainly break the all-time league WAR record next season. Mike Whitlock was second in the league with a .326 average, and Mike Predmore his 32 home runs.

Well, it's the end of an era- owner John O'Rourke Jr. did not renew my contract, after 15 years on the job. I thought a 94-68 record was pretty good, but the writing was on the wall after disappointing years the two previous seasons.

The Freeton Crusaders won the TBL championship in seven games over Stephens. This was Freeton's first playoff appearance and first championship since the year 2000. The Crusaders had the best pitching staff in baseball, led by 34-year-old Matt Greene.

Our own Danny Nese won both the Rookie of the Year and the Pitcher of the Year awards, with a 19-6 record, 3.06 ERA, and 232 strikeouts. Kee Seema of Sungate won his fourth Player of the Year award, hitting .302 with 32 home runs. Rookie outfielder Brian Underwood won a Great Glove for us in right field, and Mike Beavers won a Platinum Stick award.

For the Titans, Chris Arguello barely missed the vesting option criteria (needed 500 plate appearances) so will be a free agent for the first time in his career. Mike Predmore voided his contract option and will also hit free agency.

in summary

Here's my full general-managerial record.

I won't sign on with another team, but I'll plan to see what happens to the Titans in the upcoming years, and the final career stats of a few of the key players from this era in Titans history.

The Titans' new GM, our previous assistant GM Andy Ingham, signed two relievers for a total of $30M/year. I... wouldn't have done that. Ingham's new manager (after Julio Diaz retired) is a man with the improbably name of Sincere Botchway, who is described as having "all the personality of a ham sandwich." Mike Whitlock retired to pursue a career in comedy. Chris Arguello was allowed to leave as a free agent and was replaced by a man named Odysseus Georgeakopoulos. And despite all that, the Titans are predicted to finish 85-77.

Arguello signed on with Crestmont for $21M with a vesting option. Mike Predmore signed with Sungate for two years at $16M/year.

Well, the Titans did in fact finish exactly 85-77. Mike Beavers had his usual awesome season (.279/24/72) and broke the all-time WAR record, despite playing an average of 130 games a season as a catcher. Just to tell you again how awesomely consistent he has been, he has won 18 Platinum Stick awards and is an 18-time all-star, in 18 years in the league. Danny Nese had an excellent sophomore campaign with an 18-7 record and 3.21 ERA. Alberto Castro was very good as well, with a .299 average and 23 home runs. Sincere Botchway won the Manager of the Year award! Weird.

Freeton repeated their success from the year before with another seven-game championship series win over Stephens. Kee Seema won yet another Player of the Year award.

The Titans again finished 85-77. Both Chris Arguello and Mike Beavers called it a career- Beavers after another masterful season in which he hit .301 with 25 home runs. He finished with 121.7 WAR. However, Sungate's Kee Seema is hot on his trail with 86.5 through age 31; Seema won his fifth straight Player of the Year and six to his name all told.

I'll give career stats for Arguello and Beavers next, and play things out through the end of Seema's career, which should likely also get the former two into the Hall of Fame... Feel free to ask about anyone/anything else you're interested in.

Can't think of any players atm, but wonder how you can resist writing more about someone named 'Sincere Botchway.'

October 11, 2025: Where are they now?

Kee Seema wound up the 2025 season as a rarely-used pinch hitter, winning his fourth championship with the Sungate Falcons. He likely finishes his career with 119.8 WAR, slightly ahead of Mike Beavers for the all-time high.

The Titans faltered under Sincere Botchway's management, falling to three last-place finishes in 2019-2021. While outfielder Pat Waters ushered in a new generation of Titans stars, Wal fell to 71-91 in the 2025 season.

Former Titans Chris Arguello, Mike Beavers, Matthew Kerrigan, Josh Ralston, and T.J. Shankman were all selected to the Hall of Fame. Unsurprisingly, Beavers went in on the first ballot.

Mike Whitlock is still active on the comedy circuit.
