His cost could make the deal unbalanced so they want to even it out as well...

That's an extra 5 million in contract they'd be taking on for that year. How many years did he have left? What were their finances like?

After seeing something like that I would have tried adding cash and seeing if I could get any prospects.

The devil is in the details. They may not have the money for the deal or may not like the player. It is depending on their strat. Remember, this game only sees numbers and if the numbers do not fit the budget or the style of the manager's numbers, then the trade will be harder to pull off. Adding cash might do it, but if the player is a square peg and their hole is round, it might just not work!

I'd say $5M in budget room is the sole reason. The response choices of the of the AI are limited. It doesn't want more, it is saying, "no we won't take a salary dump for a player we don't need". It's not weird at all.

So much for personality. Albert Belle, a complete nut job was never traded and was the highest paid player in the game, twice!

Does the 40-man roster affect the trade also? They could have declined the trade because they don't have room on the 40 man roster. I think the IA has problems with the 40 man roster being filled up.

20 Wins

Why don't they want Jonny, he's worth 20 wins!

Billy, of the 20,000 notable players for us to consider, I believe that there is a championship team of twenty-five people that we can afford, because everyone else in baseball undervalues them."
