We have a good tough league to play in. There are no series off

This league has been a real wake-up call for me. I am struggling to stay at .500 and I don't think I will be promoted unless the latest lineup catches fire down the stretch. I have tinkered about all I can without taking out a mortgage, so I may have to be satisfied with another year at diamond level. I suppose there are worse things than getting a crack at a potentially weaker league next season.

My bullpen has been unexpectedly awful. I thought it was in good shape going into the season, but only Wilcy Moore has been dependable. I think this is one area where results can be wildly random, so I am inclined to just keep running the same group out there. I don't like the bullpen full of starters, so I don't plan to go that route. I think it makes more sense to just get a bullpen for of the best closers, but diamond historical closers are really expensive. I would love to have Satchel Paige, but he doesn't come up that often and never at a bargain price.

P.S. Is Kevin Brown the best pitcher in this league, or does he only beat me? He sure has my number.

I'm in Diamond 301, Orcin, and I know what you mean. I've been competitive up until now. But I have 0 Perfect, 0 Diamond, and 6 Gold -- not enough to compete with the big fish at the top of the food chain. When I check my upcoming schedule, all I see are Perfect and Diamond projected SPs. Once a week, I probably see a Gold SP. It's hard to get on any kind of roll.

I have had Kevin Brown all 4 seasons and he has been a beast. This is by far his worst year but he is coming around now after the first half with an ERA of 6+. He is a keeper.

Kushiel, as of right now you are tied for the division lead with Tokyo. I'm pulling for you.

After leading my division for the first few months, and neck-and-neck in July, dropping into second, at least Pentos was still second in the WC.

Now after dropping 4 straight heart-breakers to a .500-ish team, I have to play 4 straight against a beast team. Lost the first three and now with a 7-game losing streak, soon to be eight, dropping out of the wild card and the division race both.

Pretty depressing, until I looked at my September schedule. My last 21 games are against teams with losing records. I'm saying there's still a chance!

Man, with you and your yearly name changes, it's hard to pull for you because I can never keep track of who you are!

Singapore has been playing well. Look forward to a competitive stretch run with you Pentos.

My Perugia Warriors are struggling to stay at .400 level but I will probably avoid relegation so I'll say goodbye to most of you next week .

I am still struggling with Tokyo for the Division and with Jaws for the wildcard. Barring some kind of collapse, it looks like I get to keep competing with these guys next week.

The competition is tough.I am rocking in first and second in runs allowed but sitting down in 4th-6th in runs scored columns. I added a 93 Correa this morning to get the light hitting Lindor out of my starting lineup. Hopefully, this will give me a little jolt.

LOL

Yeah, I figured that would be a side effect. Just think of me as Game of Thrones (I always keep GoT as my team abbreviation).

Anyhow, on the other hand, it keeps me a little under the radar of the guys who aren't on the forum, so that I don't have as much of a target on my back.

Man, I thought I had you when I swept you four straight to close to 1 1/2 GB. In real life, that would have destroyed your players' confidence, and I would have surged into the division lead.

Too bad they don't simulate that... Your digital guys just kept on playing and in spite of a weak schedule, mine didn't. Now 3 out with 5 to play, I'm hoping for a late charge, but odds favor you heavily. It's been fun... fingers crossed.

Yeah, I wish "light hitting Lindor" would have performed the same for the Singapore Sluggers. Pretty much the card/player preventing me from winning my division, considering how it's overachieved for him.

We're (Lake Monroe) thrilled to finish with both the best record and the best run differential, despite not owning a dozen perfect cards (we have 3, the obligatory Trout/Betts plus Eckersley). We benefited from some good luck in 1-run games and extra-inning games, and feel very fortunate to be in this position. In the playoffs, especially with the 5-game division series, everybody has a legitimate shot. Good luck to all, but not too much good luck! 8^)

You have a nice team. Good luck in the playoffs.

I only have 2 perfect cards, Trout and Betts, and finished 92-70 missing the playoffs by a game. Who would have thought Trout would hit 240ish for me this season? Anyway I am looking forward to getting on to the Perfect Level. I still believe I can be competitive without the usual dozen or so perfects at this level. I will continue to tinker with my Frogs until I surprise them

Dang it. I was certain I had my rotation set correctly, but somehow my pitcher intended for the WC game with a killer record of shutting down that opponent was used in the last game of the season.

Looks like my last server upload didn't take.

Major screw-up on my part.

My odds in the coin flip just got worse.

Based on my experience in 2 diamond leagues, and watching the multitude of Trouts in those leagues, it strikes me as the most inconsistent card at that level. Some great years and some really bad ones. No evidence to back this up, just casual observation and my own experience.

Won the Wild Card game despite screwing up my pitching rotation and not having my best guy available. Second year in a row my GoT team won a road WC game.

But this time the run came to an end in the DS. Trailed the LOLCats 2-0, before winning two at home and forcing a game 5, where I lost to Perfect Pedro Martinez, arguably the best pitcher in the game, so I can't complain.

But good luck to my division winner Singapore Sluggers as they face the Cats in the Sub-League Series. You gave me a great pennant race, now go get those Cats!

This was spot on. The Aqua Sox (WC) beat the Horde in the conference series and went on to win the WS in 6 games. They have a really nice roster, but still brought in Babe Ruth to help out for the final couple of playoff series.
