Dynamic Expansion for "Historical League"

Quick question, if I have "automatic league" expansion off for a historical league, will the league expand "dynamically" on it's own? Sorry if this has been covered before...

So if , for example, I start a historical league in 1901 with real players and have "league expand automatically according to history" (or whatever it says) tuned OFF will I see a dynamically expanded league in say 50 yrs sim time? I'm thinking if this is the case it would be oh so interesting to start a historical league in the dead ball era and see where it eventually ends up.

Mike,

I'm new to OOTP, but I think the answer is no. Dynamic expansion is an option that appears in the setup for a fictional league. If you're setting up a new historical game that option doesn't appear, which means you can't activate it.

A partial solution would be to create a new fictional game, making sure you select the Dynamic Evolution option. Then import the teams from a separately-created historical game. The next challenge is linking the fictional game to the historical players database so that it can import the rookies for each season. I don't know how to do this or even if it can be done.

obviously not dynamic expansion, but if you turn auto expansion off, you can still manually expand your league with historical leagues, so if you want to add 4 teams in 1950 you can do so...

Just to clarify, dynamic league expansion is available for fictional leagues only. A request has been made to add this feature to historical leagues in a future patch or perhaps in OOTP12.

In fact, you can create it as a purely fictional league, with dynamic expansion turned on. You can set it up to either import the rookies for the league year into the draft pool, or you can have the rookies assigned directly to the teams (by setting the historical team id equal to a team id from the Lahman db).
