Potential Mac version bug (clash with Parallels Desktop?)

(reposted this as I originally posted it under General)

I am having to release and reenter my license code each time that I run OOTPX following my use of Parallels Desktop. I get the message that my license is no longer valid and that this may have happened as a result of updating my operating system. While this did happen when I installed Snow Leopard, I expected it then.

I have not done any system updates recently. It only happens after I have had Parallels running with Windows Vista (don't ask, there are reasons I need it :-) ). Parallels shuts down normally.

Of course, perhaps it is just me and not a bug at all, but it is consistent. It's not really that big a deal but is a little annoying.

It's too bad that you've haven't gotten an answer, because I'm curious about it as well. However, I suspect there is only one guy who might have a clue on this one, and he may not be tracking this. It might be worth a bug report but I thought I'd suggest something first. I haven't used Parallels (not yet, anyway) so I can only make some guesses.

One thing you could try if you haven't already is resetting your copy of the game back to Demo. You would do that by de-licensing your copy, but also by checking to see that the hidden .license.txt files(s) that are in your Documents/Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 10 are deleted. Then launch Parallels and then relicense your game. It's the sort of thing I would try before I submitted a bug report.

Hi there.

This does appear to be an issue related to the parallels desktop. Unfortunately, there will not be any more patches for OOTP 10, so I'm afraid there's not much we can do about it for now.

Additionally, OOTP 11 will use a new licensing engine for Mac, so this same problem isn't likely to be an issue, or at least there's no reason to expect it to be! We'll try to be sure to check it out, though!

For now I'm going to go ahead and close out this issue.

Thanks,

Steve
