Question about 5 Pt. punches

Hello,
I just bought the Title Bout version 2.5.

I used to play the old board game back in the 80's and I also played "Title Bout" Commodore 64 computer version by Avalon Hill.

One thing I noticed right away about this version is that in the board game and the C64 version, a 5-Point punch put the fighter who threw it into "Killer Instinct (KI)" mode and the other fighter had the option to cover up.

In this version though, a 5 point punch doesn't put the fighter who delivered it into KI mode. Is that a flaw or has that aspect of the game changed?

Thanks!

Count, I don't think it's a flaw, just the game may have changed.

Oh, ok. Thanks for the reply!

Is there some place that all of the game mechanics are written about that I could read? I’d just like to get up to speed on how the mechanics of the game have changed since I played years ago.

I have noticed at times the game (Version 2.5) after a 5pt punch it will state the fighter's KI has kicked in, not to often it seems. Depends on the fighters HP and other factors I would guess. ??

Yes, I've noticed that as well. I've also had a few cases where the KI kicked in a punch or two after the 5 point punch. It was almost as if the 5 point punch rocked them, and the extra cumulative punch or two had them out on their feet. Seems as if there are some hidden factors behind how that all plays out, which is pretty neat if that is the case.
