If you are set to use the real minors then yes, otherwise no.

I was just thinking about this feature... on if I'd want it in my fictional leagues and the strategic openings that it would create (sorry for gamifying this, but OOTP is a game first after all).

This isn't going to be accurate as is. Not the Negro Leagues themselves, but the way in which they will integrate with MLB.

In game, what will happen is as soon as the color line is taken down, MLB teams will swarm all over the Negro Leagues like piranha. That is not at all like it was IRL. Only 3 MLB teams brought in Black talent as soon as they were allowed to. The Red Sox, on the other hand, took 12 years to bring in their first Black player after the color line was taken down.

I know it's too late now, but a team by team setting in a historical MLB would have been better, or if you want that in your fictional league, have a setting where either fictional owners have views on the color line, or teams have a 25% chance each year to be randomly allowed to integrate.

There's a good chance this has been brought up somewhere already... if so, I missed it and sorry in advance.

So has the bug been ironed out involving guys like Clarence Kraft? In 17 Kraft would appear like he's supposed to in 1914 with the Boston Braves. In my experience he never made it into a big league game, he just hung on the reserve roster for a few years, thus he had no stats. Then when 1919 rolled around, he re-imported as Clarence Kraft the minor league player. Problem being, his player history was rewritten to show his actual real life stats(not his OOTP non stats) and he now played in 3 games for the Boston Braves in 1914.

Not a bug.

Reserve roster no stats, no count, not for nuthin'. Just like it never happened.

Ugh! Supermercado may want to be made aware of this type of thing. Unless he doesn't mind having his OOTP history rewritten with real history that didn't actually happen in his OOTP world.

AND Mr. Krafts entire MiLB career is now included or at least as much as we have. So he may start on a reserve roster as early as 1911. Once the league is under way only his OOTP stats count. This is why there is a function in game settings to erase stats. SuperMerc... dude should have been using that for the last 10 versions or so.

So, in the case of Mr. Kraft, the problem I described shouldn't occur because his stats start earlier and are more continuous.

What do you mean by a function to erase stats?

There is a function to erase stats on one of the game settings screens.

I think it is league functions.

Yeah it is. Why if one is running a continuous historical league, would erasing all stats be something of interest?

If one is playing a continuous historical league that started in 1914 or earlier, why would erase stats be something one would want to use in 1919?

I have no idea what people get up to with OOTP.

It may have something not to do with climate change or perhaps supermodels.

Appreciate your concern David - I would probably tip a table if something like that happened to a game I was involved in, but the way I read it are we saying there's still a chance the same thing is going to happen in 18? Will keep an eye out for that - seems like a checkbox for not importing minors players with previous MLB history would be helpful.

Dependent on Start Date plus the specific player(s) stats that trouble you. More viewable/seeable/witnessable stats in 18 than in 17. Feel free to erase what you don't like.

The problem David is referring to is a player who comes in a year or two after start.
Not there in 1901. Shows up in 1903. But has stats for say 1890-1898 or something like this.
Hence you can't erase stats after the start year.

There may be fewer gaps in 18 but not none.

So Kraft shows up in 1911. He was with an unaffiliated minor league team that I'm sure won't be in the game that early, so where is he? Is he with the Braves because that is the team he debuted with, or is he a free agent? If he's a free agent, will he sign with the Braves in 1914?

Free!
He is free!

and an agent of freedom!

In 1914 he has almost no chance to become a Brave.
