Considering my first draft game

So far I've always played with rookies assigned to historical teams. Now I want to play a draft game. I think.

So if rookies aren't assigned to historical teams what about players drafted in prior years and who historically were somewhere in the farm system at the start year of the game.

Example. Game starts in 1986. A player was drafted in 1984. He was in the minors through 1987 and made it to the majors 1988. Does he end up with his historical team? If not, when and how does he become available in the game?

They would be in the minors of whatever team they played for in 1986. For example Chris Sabo on ROY in 1988. If you start a game in 1986. He’ll be in the Reds AA or AAA team.

One thing is I think they use the end of the year rosters. So if a guy was traded mid season IRL he’d be on the team he was traded to

With historical minors off... rookies appear in the draft for the first year that they appeared in the majors.

With historical minors on... rookies appear in the draft for the first year as a pro. If they were already in the minors, they will be on that team as said above.

I have done 3 years of drafts now. An interesting added feature.

Probably shouldn't count the middle year as much. I wiped out most of my picks by signing free agents.
