Halton Hills Free Agents Signings | Offseason
Alexei Emelin, LD, 32 | 6'2, 216LBS | NHL Plus-Minus Reward 2018
2017/2018 - Las Vegas Golden Knights (GP:82, G:14, A:25, PTS:39, PIM:40, +/-:+55 AVG Time: 21:27
Signs: 3 Year Contract: 3.1M Per Season
*GM Baker jumped at the chance of adding the Las Vegas Dman from last season. He proved to be a great 3-4 man for the Vegas Squad, and was the highest +/- player in the league last season. He's a Veteran player with lots of experience. He will be a good edition to the roster and is expected to be a first/second line dman for the upcoming season.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brett Ritchie, RW, 25, 6'3, 220LBS
2017/2018 - HC Slovan Usti nad Labem (GP:37, G:18, A:22. PTS:40, PIM:40, +/-:0)
Signs: 2 Year Contract: 575K Per Season
*GM Baker brings Ritchie to the team for his size and durability. Ritchie is known for being hard to take outta the game for a long period time and known as "a little" stronger than most players. Brett is expected to be a fine addition to the 3rd/4th line of this team.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yan Aucoin, RD, 18, 6'0, 219LBS | Elite Bulldogs 2nd Round Pick, 64th Pick in the 2018 Draft
Signs: 3 Year Entry Contract: 575K Per Season
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joe Veleno, C, 18, 6'2, 207LBS | Elite Bulldogs 1st Round Pick, 2nd Pick in the 2018 Draft
Signs: 3 Year Entry Contract: 925K Per Season

Halton Hills Trades during the Free Agents Frenzie | Offseason
Arizona Coyotes Trade:
22, LW: Brendan Perlini (NHL 2017/2018 Stats: GP:71, G:5, A:11, PTS:16, PIM:38, +/-:0)
In Return, Halton Hills Elite Bulldogs Send:
29, LW: Michael Raffl (NHL 2017/2018 Stats: GP:19, G:6, A:5, PTS:11, PIM:6, +/-:+4)
& 3rd Round Draft Pick in 2019
*GM Baker was pleased with the new addition to his squad. Perlni has no trouble performing under pressure and is a playmaker that will be a good addition to either the 2nd or 3rd line. Brendan is another addition that isn't known for being easy to injure, can handle a lot of playing time without fading and is reportedly a player coaches love to have, as Perlini's always willing to learn.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Halton Hills Elite Bulldogs Trade:
24, C: Zemgus Girgensons (NHL 2017/2018 Stats: GP:52, G:7, A:23, PTS:30, PIM:28, +/-:+24)
& 2nd Round Draft Pick in 2019
In Return
Calgary Flames Shipoff:
23, C: Sean Monahan (NHL 2017/2018 Stats: GP:39, G:9, 26, PTS:35, PIM:37, +/-:-14)
*GM Baker took a risk on this trade. Yes, Both players perform extremely well when they're active and not on the injury list. Yes both players can potentially be star players on a team. That being said, both these players struggled last season with injuries. The only thing here that could end up biting GM Baker's butt is the 2nd Round Draft pick given up. If Sean Monahan can complete 70-82 games this upcoming season with the production we know he can, the trade will be well worth the lose of the draft pick. It's a gambling situation for both teams.

Notable Trades During Free Agents Frenzie | Offseason
Chicago Blackhawks Trade:
Brent Seabrook & 4th Round Draft Pick in 2019
to
Montreal Canadiens for:
Alex Galchenyuk & 4th Round Draft Pick in 2019

2018/2019 | Pre Season Record:
GP: 7, W: 6, L: 1, OTL: 0, GF: 27, GA: 18

2018/2019 | Pre Season Notes/ Season Outlooks:
Players Stats:
Sean Monahan:
If the pre-seasons is any indication of what we will see this season from Sean Monahan, we can praise GM Baker for picking up this star player. In the 7 games of the pre-season, Sean Monahan collected an amazing 12 points (5G, 7A) and was a +8. He had a PPG and SHG during it. He's been paired with Ilya Kovalchuk & Brandon Saad as the Elite Bulldogs number one lineup.

Brandon Saad:
Saad's a force to be reckon with as we seen when we acquired him at the trade deadline. He ended up being a huge part of the Stanley Cup Run, and this pre-season looks as though he won't be slowing down. He managed to collect 4G, 7A for 11 points and was +7 during the stretch. He continued his chemistry with Kovalchuk on the first line and doesn't look to be getting moved anytime soon.

Ilya Kovalchuk:
Kovalchuk had an average pre-season coming off with 8 points during the 7 games played (4G, 4A). 3/8 of his points came on the Power play. At the age of 35 Kovalchuk is proving he still has what it takes at the NHL level, but many aren't expecting another 69 point season as he did last year. Time will only tell, but expect Ilya to still be a clutch player when it comes to those key points needed to be made.

Second Line
The second line seen James Neal and Andrew Shaw being paired up on either sides on the wing. The Center hadn't been made official, but Martin Hanzal spent a good chunk with the line (also being moved to third line center). The line looked promising as they collected 16 points together as a pairing. Neal and Shaw are expected to stick to the second line, but Bonino (Who was injured all the preseason) is expected to be the #2 center for these guys.

Third Line
As expected that would mean Martin Hanzal will center the third line. As we know the line could change at any point, right now on paper we're expecting Bryan Rust and newly acquired Brendan Perlini to be the wingers for that line. Rust had a pretty good showing collecting 5 Assists during the preseason, being rotated from second and third line. Brendan on the other hand had it rough, playing in all 7 games, collecting no points and finished as a -1. GM Baker thinks he's still got promise and will prove himself down the stretch of the season opening.

Fourth Line
The fourth lines kinda going to be just thrown together with Center: Mattias Janmark out of action right now indefinite with a partially torn UCI. That being said Center: Laurent Dauphin will get to start the season again with wingers Matt Nieto & Patrick Maroon. Laurent got to start the season last year and in his 7 appearances he only managed to get 1 Assist. He's hoping that he can mustard out something more, to earn a spot on the main roster this season. Nieto hasn't played yet, but standing 5'11 and 212LBS we expect him to be the man giving goalies a little trouble in front of the net. Lastly Patrick Maroon will finish out the lineup. His Physical play will be counted on and expect him to give those star players a hard time. Last season he spent most of his time (40 Games) in the AHL. He did play 35 games last season for the Elite Bulldogs and went 4G, 10A, for 14PTS. He had 11PIM's and was a +9 when he was called on.

Defensive Threat:
A lot to look forward to this season in front of Steve Mason and Al Montoya. Derek Forbort will be taking on the first line duties and if he performs as well as last season, we know it will be promising. He will have the assistance of Alexei Emelin who was the top +/- last season along his side. Many are excited to see how the season goes with these two leading the Defence.

Luke Schenn's still here, but will be starting this season not on the first line, but second pairing with Simon Despres. Schenn last season was a force to be reckon with for Mason during the season and throughout the playoffs. Making sure Mason was getting vision on the puck was his duty and he did it well. Expect more this season. Simon was a quiet man out there, but did damage. He had 30pts last season (7G, 23A). He had a lot of injury's during the playoffs, but played 80/82 games last season.

Third line expects to be a threat and could move up during the season who knows. 2nd Round Pick, 64 overall Yan Aucoin will get a chance to start the season with the main roster. He will be paired with Adam Larsson who had a decent season last year. Larsson played in 79/82 games last season and collected 9G, 26A for 35PTS rotating throughout the first and second line. With the addition of Alexei, expect Larsson to rotate through the 2nd and 3rd line, depending what is needed.

Goalie Stats:
Steve Mason:
Manson's Preseason was rocky at best. He played all 7 games during the preseason (Al Montoya injured most of it, so didn't play). He faced 127 shots during the preseason allowing 18 goals (GAA: 2.57 SV%: .858) , going 6 Wins, 1 Loss. Mason's rough preseason didn't seem to alarm GM Baker or Coach Oates. Both still feel Manson's true nature will return in due time during the season.

Al Montoya
He met some injury issues for preseason and when returned just backed up Mason. We expect to see this a lot during the season, but when Montoya does get the call, We expect him to be at par from last season with a great season.

2018/2019 | Season | 10 Games Played:
GP: 10, W: 9, L: 0, OTL: 1, PTS: 19 GF: 46, GA: 23

2018/2019 | Season Notes/ Season Outlooks:
Players Stats:
First Line Destruction:
Ilya Kovalchuk (3G, 14A, 17PTS), Sean Monahan (9G, 9A, 18PTS) and Brandon Saad (8G, 11A, 19PTS) have been the most dominating trio on the ice in the first 10 games out of the NHL. The line has contributed combined 21 Goals, 34 Assists for 54 Points... Not to mention out of those points, 20 of them have been on the Power play. This was exactly what we were talking about with Sean Monahan, a future franchise player and is proving exactly that at the age of 23. GM Terence Baker during the offseason took a risk in adding the 23yr old after a disappointing season spent in Calgary with injuries. After the long thoughts, Coach Adam Oates and GM Baker pulled the trigger and made the deal knowing it could come back to bite them. So far 10 games in, Monahan has played all 10 and is on pace for a career defining season. Not only that his two wingers are right beside him, as they're the threat it seems for teams to beat! Look out for this trio!

James Neals Performing with Andrew Shaw:
James Neal (5G, 3A, 8PTS) and Andrew Shaw (5G, 4A, 9PTS) have been together on the second line since preseason. They contributed 17PTS for the team together (10G, 7A). Nick Bonino completes the line, but seems to be struggling so far this season. He's been injured and has played 7/10 games this season so far. He's collected 1G, 3A, for 4PTS this season so far. He needs to try and keep healthy to continue contributing to the team.

Defence! Defence!:
Alexei Emelin has adapted well leaving the Las Vegas squad last season to transitioning into the Halton Hills lineup. He's played in all 10 games so far this season, collecting 7A's and is a +7 so far. He's been a huge contributor to the power play, as 5/7 of those assists have come on the power play.

Luke Schenn has done well on the second line pairings as he's come out of the gate with 3G, 4A for 7PTS this season. He's continued to prove himself as a great underrated asset and if he continues, can surpass his last season points totals (25).

Also needed mentioning [I]Derek Forbort continues to contribute from the blue line. He's Manson's saviour when it gets crazy in the front of the net. Not only that he's been helping out on the offense with 1G and 3A. Expect him to continue to push himself as the season moves on.

Goalie Stats:
10 Games, 10 Starts?!
Steve Mason's been a workhorse for the Elite Bulldogs. Coach Adam Oates has kept the decision of starting Mason, due to the fact he's performing well. Currently his record is 9 Win, 0 Losses, 1OTL and has only allowed 23 Goals on 219 shots (GAA: 2.28, SV%: .895). His save percentage is a little below average, but he's done what is needed to keep his team's record going.

Expect Al Montoya get some starts down the stretch. Even the Coach knows not to over play his starting goalie.

Halton Hills Elite Bulldogs |2018/2019 Season Trades:
Anaheim's GM Bob Murray made a call to the Halton Hills Elite Bulldogs with a proposal that GM Baker has quoted with saying "A Great Addition".

Bob Murray will be sending 26, LD, Cam Fowler (GP:26, G:3, A:20, PTS:23 PIM:14, +/-: +14) to the Elite Bulldogs. In exchange, Bob Murray will require 28, RD, David Savard (AHL: GP:12, G:4, A:14, PTS:18, PIM:12, +/-: +16), also 28, LW, Mike Hoffman (AHL: GP:13, G:9, A:8, PTS:17, PIM:2, +/-: +3) & a 4th Round Draft Pick in the 2019 Entry Draft.

Bob Murray was running short of Right Defenders and noticed that the Elite Bulldogs were using him more of a relief/injury replacement on the main roster. Adding Hoffman also boosts their 2nd/3rd lines also giving them a pretty good looking roster down the stretch.

Terence Baker on the other hand sees his Defenders becoming "Strengthened" with the Addition of Fowler. Oates plans on running Fowler with Simon Despres on the second line defenders, as Alexei Emelin and Derek Forbort have been a dominating force on the first line pairing together.

Halton Hills Elite Bulldogs |2018/2019 Team League Stats:
[#1 for Goals Scored with 111] (#2 is Anaheim with 105) (#3 is Buffalo with 83)
[#2 for Least Goals Against with 46] (#1 is Philadelphia with 38) (#3 is Edmonton with 54)
[#2 for Power Play Goals Scored with 23)] (#1 is Anaheim with 30) (#3 is Winnipeg with 22)
[#2 for Power Play Percentage with 23] (#1 is Anaheim with 28.8) (#3 is St. Louis with 22.6)
[#3 for Penalty Kill Percentage with 88.2] (#1 is Pittsburgh with 88.5) (#2 is Minnesota with 88.5)

2018/2019 | Season Notes/ Season Outlooks:
Players Stats:
#1 Line: #1 In the League:
The most dominating line currently in the NHL without a doubt has been Elite Bulldogs first line pairing of Kovalchuk, Saad, and Monahan. The trio were matched up in the preseason together and ever since has been a match made in heaven. Combined stats they've accomplished in 25 games together 123PTS. (G:47 A:76). Even with those stats blowing your mind, out of those points, 43 have been on the power play. (G:18 A:25).

As long as these three guys keep on doing what they're doing, we could see another clinch for this team for the playoffs without a doubt in my mind. GM Baker had much to say, but keeping it short "The guys have a chemistry you could only wish for from guys. Like in 2012 when the 70's line was dominating the NHL. We got lucky these guys have the same goals and work ethic."

When speaking to Oates, he only had this to say: "They work hard in practice, they work hard in games and that's all you can ask for. Yes they're one if not the best line right now in the NHL. They just got to keep doing what they're doing and not let the hype get to far ahead of them that they fall hard."

Bonino Who?
Nick Bonino has struggled down the stretch as he's only put up 1G, 4A for 5PTS in 22 games played. He's centering for Brendan Perlini (GP:25, G:4, A:4, PTS:8) and Bryan Rust (GP:25, G:5, A:5, PTS:10). Bonino's minutes also continue to be cut down, as he use to average 14mins a game, is now down to 10:48 Mins per game.

Offensive Threat Coming? Nah We Got This!:
Derek Forbort and Alexei Emelin have been brilliant down the stretch. The two are in the top 5 for minutes played on the team (Emelin #1, Forbort #4). Combined they've contributed to 6G, 28A, for 34PTS. Along with the rest of the defensive squad, they've contributed to the #2 lowest goals scored against in the the League for their team and look to continue the pressure with newly acquired Cam Fowler.

Goalie Stats:
Calling on Steve Mason
Manson's continued success has been amazing, but he knows that his Defenders in front are a huge helping in his current success as well. He's faced 545 shots this season in 25 games. Looking at that stat, that would be he's only averaging roughly 22 shots a game.. Meaning the Defence and Offence are really doing work for him.

Masons stats currently are 21-2-2 with a GAA of 1.83 and a SV% of .916. Also to note he's already achieved getting 4 Shutouts this season (Last season in 64 games he had 6).

Though Mason hasn't faced many shots, he's still been the backlines last defender this season and is a huge part of this teams success so far this season.

Not So Saad!:
Brandon Saad can now rest easy as the seasons done and he can know that he blew out his best season of his career at the age of 26.

Saad had a career high in goals which he beat out Patrick Kane this season for the League Leading Goal Scorer (By 1 Goal). He ended the season with the most assists in the league with 72 (Kopitar 2 behind) and NHL Leader in Points with 120 (Sean Monahan 18pts behind).

Brandon was asked what were some major factors in his accomplishments this year. Saad said "My team". Which seeing whom he was partnered with all season, you can't really help but notice it's the truth. Saad Said "Half the season it was Kovi, Monahan and myself. We dominated out there til we lost Kovi with an injury."

Kovi went down Dec.28th during their game with Edmonton. Saad "It was really unfortunate for him. He missed 7 games this season because of it." Though he was gone, Oates found another successful pairing when James Neal jumped onto the first line. Saad Says "The way Neal came up into the first line really made things continue the way they did. Neal and Kovi are both great Veterans to be paired with, so it was an easy transition to have James finish the season with myself and Monahan."

This line is expect to be together starting the playoffs and will be the line to beat for any team.

Worth The Risk:
Sean Monahan was a questionable move during the offseason. He played only 39 games before this season with the Calgary Flames out of the 82 games. When he was in the lineup he produced as he had 35 points. The only problem was him being injured or out with some kind of issue. So when the Elite Bulldogs sent in the trade a 2nd round pick and Zemgus Girgensons to Calgary in the exchange, not everyone was convinced in the move.

Monahan had a huge season and made it all worthwhile (At Least for now). He played in all 82 games this season contributing 102PTS (A Career High) [41G, 61A] (All Career Makers). We hope to see the type of play he brought this regulation season into the playoffs for a long run.

GM Baker quoted at the end of the season "The risk was worth". As we know, Terence had high hopes for Sean Monahan coming here and Monahan did not let his GM down. Monahan says "It's nice to have that season *Last Year* behind me. I knew coming here I had to prove myself to everyone again." He also mentioned "I was also great to have the backing of the GM and my Coaches. I wanted to make sure I did my best for the people that believed in me."

The Defensive Duo Can't Be Stopped!
From start of the season... To the end of the season two men stuck together and dominated the blue line. Alexei Emelin & Derek Forbort simply just hit it off when paired together and never stopped. Not only that, They both had a career defying season! Emelin stats were blasted out of the water in his 9 Year NHL Career. All 82 Games were played as he contributed to 18G-54A for 72PTS and was 3 shy from last season for +/- with a +52.

Forbort's on the other hand has his first full season of 82 games in his 6 Year NHL Career. Not only that he had his highest point totals with 49 (7G) and a career high of 42A. He finished the season with a +/-: if 56 (Also a high). These two enjoy playing with one another and it shows. They will be the Defenders to beat come playoff time.

Steve Mason:
Mason was a workhorse this season. Oates had so much faith in Mason this season, he had a record starting 38 Games in a row. In mid February he went down finally when he fractured his foot and was out a month. When he came back, it didn't even look like he missed a beat.

Mason finish the season (51-12-5) on the season. He faced 1473 shots this season, allowing only 141 (GAA: 2.05, SV%: .904). He's expected to get the workload again as he looks to win his second straight Stanley Cup.

Backups Show Up:
Al Montoya and Calvin Pickard were called on when Mason went down and they didn't disappoint.

Montoya start the season as the backup and seen little time. The injury to Mason finally gave him some games. He split time with Pickard and went (6-0-0). He faced 93 shots, allowing only an amazing 3 goals against (GAA: 0.50, SV%: .968).

Pickard was in the AHL most of this season and was dominating down there. His AHL Record was (38-7-2) and his GAA was 1.88 and SV% .915. So he had proven himself to eventually win the backup spot from Montoya. He played 8 games while Mason was out post a (6-2-0) and allowed only 14 goals on 177 shots (GAA: 1.74, SV%: .921).

GM Baker says "It's Hard.. We have so many great goalies here." The way it looks, as long as we see no injuries, Steve Mason will get the workload and if needed, Pickard will be more than ready to step in to help.
